Do you like facts and evidence? This post is for you.
Various research studies show that exercise is an effective treatment for depression. For instance, a 2016 meta-analysis from the Journal of Psychiatric Research stated that their “data strongly supports the claim that exercise is an evidence-based treatment for depression.”
Additionally, “exercise supervised by professionals with relevant training, including physical educators, physiotherapists and exercise physiologists, was associated with the greatest improvements.”
Science is pretty clear on this topic and yet in several countries it is not a part of their conventional treatment, including the United States. We exist to change that and to make exercise a normal part of treating depression.
Even if you’re not diagnosed with depression but are susceptible to depressive symptoms, exercise is also shown to be an effective way to prevent and reduce your risk for depression.
