Nailing down our product has been fun, exciting, and has involved mannnnny a trial and error. Here's what we can tell ya so far:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

There’s a lot of misconception when it comes to ingrown hairs. Let’s discuss!

-ingrown hairs are caused by hair removal of ANYYY kind, not just shaving with a dull razor without shaving cream on skin that hasn’t been exfoliated

-ingrown hairs that grow sideways: transfollicular. These types of ingrowns can lead to a long red line where the hair continues to grow under the skin instead of through. This is the most “traditional” (ew, ingrown hairs shouldn’t be “tradition” 🙄 Cue, our product)

-ingrown hairs that curl: extrafollicular pe*******on. Sometimes these hairs find their way through the skin on their own, but not before some pain. If the hair doesn’t find its way through, which is common, it becomes more red, raised, pus-filled, and irritated basically ruining your whole day, week, dare we say month 🥴

Hanna has been an athlete her whole life. She 🏊‍♀️ since her first lesson until she was captain of her D1 collegiate team and is now a triathlete and fitness instructor. Growing up in a tight swimsuit led to 🪒 quite often. Ingrown hairs not only made her self-conscious 😞 but were also very painful😖 . She believed that her body image and the appearance of her p***c area was a large part of what made her feminine, attractive, and hygienic. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She tried any product that claimed to solve ingrown hairs and would save💰 or ask for waxes in lieu of 🎁 . The products were 👎 ; too drying, not exfoliating enough, or caused irritation because they were not formulated for the p***c area. Waxes only provided a short-term solution and often times the esthetician would 🤦‍♀️ and 🗣 about the importance of maintaining a “clean” p***c area. She became so self-conscious that she wouldn't even go back to the same esthetician twice hoping to save herself the embarrassment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The only solution seemed to be laser hair removal - too expensive and time-consuming as a 👩‍🎓 -athlete. It is Hanna's mission to create a product that is effective, obtainable, and doesn't involve lasers. 🪒 Plz exfoliate: Dead skin cells clog your hair follicles and trap your hair under the skin, comomnly causing ingrowns. Removing dead skin first through a process of exfoliation will not only ensure the hair follicle is in the best condition for hair removal but will also allow for normal growth post-shave. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🪒Fact: your p***c area needs more TLC, the skin is more sensitive. So while you may shave against the grain on other parts of the body, doing so down there may cut your hair way closer to your skin or sometimes even beneath it that might lead to painful ingrown hairs or cuts 😩

💧“A healthy va**na needs the same hygienic attention as any other part of the body, similar to the way we care for our face. The skin of the va**na is susceptible to dryness if not taken care of properly.” When your body isn't properly hydrated, the outside skin of your va**na—including the l***a majora and l***a minora—are more likely to be dry, Sherry A. Ross, M.D. says. The same goes for the inside of your va**na: If you’re drinking enough water, your va**na should be well-lubricated.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

💧How much? The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies of Sciences recommends 11-16 cups. Though they also remind us water can come from sources other than the tap (shoutout NYC for having outstanding tap water). Fruits/veggies high in water count. 💧What can staying hydrated do for your skin? The fact is that skin is an organ, and just like any other part of the body. your skin is made up of cells. And skin cells, like any other cell in the body, are made up of water. Without water, the organs will certainly not function properly or at their best. If your skin is not getting a sufficient amount of water, the lack of hydration will present itself by turning your skin dry, tight, and flaky. Kaceia Gaither, MD, OB-GYN advises:

🙅‍♀️Avoid underwear and bottoms that aren’t “breathable”, read: clothes synthetic in nature are a no go. Opt for cotton underwear, which is the most breathable material.

🙅‍♀️Change out of sweaty clothes ASAP! Post spin class brunch can wait!

🙅‍♀️Last but not least: do not rewear dirty workout clothes
