Last week faculty, trainees, and colleagues attended the Academic Pediatric Association Region 2 and 3 Conference here in NYC! The CHAMily presented their work on bronchopulmonary dysplasia, care of newborns exposed to opioids, asthma in the Bronx, travel medicine, social media advocacy, and care of children with autism in clinic - quite the showing of expertise! 👏

New Faculty Alert! Jesse Humm, MD, recently joined the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM).

Dr. Humm’s also completed the Educators in Health Professions Program through the Harvard Macy Institute and will be working in education and simulation in addition to seeing patients.

Thank a Resident Day was started by the Gold Foundation, whose work centers on promoting humanism in medicine

📚🩺 A little on medical education: After graduating college and medical school, new doctors complete a residency in their specialty (for example pediatrics). This residency training is 3 or more years. Some choose to further specialize (for example pediatric cardiology) and complete additional years of fellowship training. That’s a whole lot of expertise!

New research recently published in Pediatrics: Risk Factors for Unresolved Food Insecurity Among Households Receiving SNAP or WIC. Authored by team members from Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, including first author Dr. Marianna Castellanos one of our current Pediatric Residents. We are always amazed at the incredibly important work done by our CHAMily, especially our trainees!
