Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that acts more like a hormone rather than a vitamin. It is the only nutrient your body that is produced when exposed to sunlight.☀️ If you don’t get much sunlight on a regular basis you may want to consider supplementing! Studies show that Vitamin D3 + K2 work well together to balance calcium for bone and cardiovascular health.

Whether multi-tasking to get through our to-do list, wrapped up in a TV show, or distracted by social media, it's easy to have our attention pulled away from our eating experience. However, mealtime is meant to be a time to relax, refuel our bodies and enjoy our meal. 🍴Mindful eating is a daily practice that can lead to improved digestion, increased sense of satisfaction and reduced overeating. How to create a consistent workout routine 💪🏽
🌟Find fitness you love. There are tons of different workout programs and styles to choose from, but the best fitness program is the one that you ENJOY and will STICK with.
🌟Fit exercise into your current routine. Based on your schedule, what time of day are you able to/most likely to workout, and for how long?
🌟Make it match your personal preferences: think about how much variety you need with your workouts to keep it fun for you.
🌟Tack it onto something you're already doing/want to do: watch your tv show on the treadmill or listen to a podcast/audiobook while going for a walk.
🌟Make it realistic: setting a goal that is doable for you is more empowering than setting a lofty goal that you can't meet.
🌟Decide ahead of time what you will do when you don't feel like working out: "when I'm lacking motivation, I will put on a killer playlist and remind myself how good I’ll feel afterward the workout is done."
🌟Break it up: if a 30-minute walk seems daunting, break it up into three 10 minute walks throughout the day.
🌟Reduce resistance: lay out your workout clothes the night before or bring a change of clothes with you to work or school and go to the gym on your way home.
🌟Find small ways to get in some movement throughout your day:
~Take the stairs
~Park your car further away from your destination
~Go for a walk during your lunch break or after dinner
~Take your dog for a longer walk
~Catch up with a friend over a walk rather than over a cup of coffee

💪Because you are aiming to become someone who exercises consistently, if you miss a workout, all is not lost. You simply get some movement in at the next opportunity. 💪

Mindset shift: "I really struggle with exercising consistently..." becomes ➡️ "I am becoming an active person and making movement a part of my lifestyle." 🤸🏻‍♀️

A key to making healthier choices, to achieving a healthier lifestyle, to accomplishing really anything in life, is to do the things you don’t want to do.

-Don’t feel like exercising? Do it anyway.
-Don’t feel like meal prepping? Do it anyway.
-Don’t feel like drinking water? Do it anyway.
-Don’t feel like meditating? Do it anyway.

I certainly don’t have a superhuman amount of willpower or self-discipline; I’d love to stay in bed, watch movies and eat chocolate all day along with everyone else. But what I’ve come to realize is that if I did only the things I FELT like doing, I would be sacrificing the version of myself I know I can be and the health and well-being that I know I can have. So, despite how I feel, I aim to do the things that I know are helpful & healthy.

While it’s hard to deny yourself the comfort of doing what’s easy at the moment - hitting the snooze button instead of getting out of bed early, scrolling on social media instead of tackling your project, ordering takeout instead of cooking a meal at home —  it’s even harder to feel sluggish and unaccomplished. It’s harder to know that you’re not supporting the healthiest version of you.

Those temporary feelings of relief or comfort from choosing what’s easier will eventually turn to regret, guilt and dissatisfaction when you realized that you haven’t made progress towards your goals.

Habits are built through repetition over time, and to create those healthy habits, you can’t wait until you feel like doing them. Remember, you’re not subject to do what your mind tells you to do. You can choose to override what you feel like doing at the moment, and instead, do what’s in your best interest. Temporary sacrifice can yield long-term results.

PS. there’s a time to push and challenge ourselves, and there’s a time to give ourselves a  break. Come to learn when you’re just making excuses and taking the easy way out vs. when you truly need rest.

Why do I feel like crap all the time?
Why do I keep messing up and making unhealthy choices?
Why don’t I have self-control?
Why can’t I get it together?
What’s wrong with me?

Listen, changing your lifestyle is HARD. Building healthier habits is no easy feat, but questions like these just discourage you and keep you trapped rather than moving you in the right direction. If you feel like you’re stuck in a rut, or are struggling to follow through on your goals, asking the RIGHT questions can help you build a clear path to the results you’re after.

Here are some questions I like to ask my clients:
❓What is one thing you know you can do to improve your health right now? (Ie: Eat more fruits and vegetables)
❓What is getting in the way of you doing that? (Ie: My schedule is busy, so I opt for what’s convenient)
❓What is one step you can take do to remove the barriers to your goal? (Meal prep on the weekends)
❓How will you define success with your goal? (Ie: eating vegetables at one meal each day and having fruit with one snack each day this week)
❓How will you handle a setback? (Ie: I won’t beat myself up. I will aim to hit my goal at the next opportunity)

Beating yourself up is not the way to get better.
If you want to improve and grow, ask yourself the right questions.
Focus on the solutions to get you to where you want to go!

The body works 24/7 to maintain homeostasis - and it’s very good at its job. Disease (which is simply dis-ease in the body), doesn’t appear out of the blue. It starts as a small, subtle cry. Your body will whisper, then whimper, and if ignored, it will try harder to get your attention. It will start screaming > and this is when most people will finally start paying attention. They wait until the symptoms are unbearable. They wait until they have no choice but to respond and try to turn their health around. But it doesn’t have to get to this point!

The body is designed for health and healing, so if something is starting to get off-balance, your body uses symptoms to give you a heads up, so that you can remove the roadblocks that are getting in the way of health.

Symptoms are the way the body speaks to you. It’s the way it communicates. So while it can be frustrating to deal with digestive issues, allergies, migraines, etc., these are all messages telling you that something is off. Reframing how you view and respond to symptoms is such an important part of your healing journey.

It’s natural to want a diagnosis, a quick fix & supplements to make it all go away, BUT if we put bandaids on the root issue, we are doing ourselves a disservice. Taking the time to develop body awareness, listen to your body’s cues, learn the weak points in your system and come to understand how you can best support your body is how you can maintain good health long-term. 🙏🏼

Let symptoms empower you, rather than frustrate you. Tune in and partner up with your body to uncover, address and heal root issues! Don’t forget, you and your body are on the same team with the same goal!👏🏻

B vitamins are crucial for so many functions of the body, including healthy metabolism, energy and methylation. 🔥 Check out the B-rich whole food sources ⬆ Since they are water-soluble, meaning they aren’t stored by the body, aim to get yo’self some B’s daily! ✌🏼
