It’s messy and emotional.

Here are powerful questions to ask yourself as you navigate your trauma healing journey.

🪬What does safety feel like for me?
• How do I know when I feel safe in my body, in relationships, and in my environment?
• What can I do to create more moments of safety daily?

🪬Am I honoring my boundaries, or am I abandoning myself for others?
• What are my non-negotiables?
• How can I communicate my needs with confidence and clarity?

🪬What emotions am I avoiding, and why?
• When was the last time I allowed myself to feel without judgment?
• What would it look like to give space to these emotions?

🪬Who am I without my trauma?
• What parts of my identity are rooted in survival?
• How can I start reconnecting with the version of me before the pain—or create a new version of myself?

🪬Am I holding onto people, patterns, or beliefs that no longer serve me?

Trauma & Emotional Manipulation: What to Watch For

Trauma leaves us vulnerable in ways we might not immediately recognize. Emotional manipulators often exploit these vulnerabilities.

Here’s what to look out for:

🔹 Guilt-Tripping
They make you feel responsible for their emotions, choices, or wellbeing. This creates a sense of obligation, making it harder to set boundaries.

🔹 Gaslighting
They distort your reality—denying things they said or did, making you doubt your memory or instincts.

🔹 Love Bombing
Overwhelming affection or attention at the start of a relationship, which quickly shifts to control or criticism once you’re emotionally invested.

🔹 Silent Treatment
Withholding communication as a way to punish or manipulate you into compliance.

🔹 Overstepping Boundaries
Pushing past your “no” or testing your limits repeatedly, hoping you’ll eventually give in.

🔹 Weaponizing Your Past
Using your trauma or insecurities against you to discredit, shame, or control you.

Healing from trauma makes you stronger, but it’s okay to still feel raw. Your instincts are valid. Trust them. Surround yourself with people who honor your boundaries, not test them.

Using Verbal Manifestation to Create Your Desires (Even While Healing from Trauma)

Your words are powerful. They shape your reality—even if you’re still navigating trauma and healing. Here’s how to use verbal manifestation effectively:

1️⃣ Speak Life Into Your Desires
Replace “I can’t” with “I am learning to” and “It’s impossible” with “It’s on its way to me.” Your words set the tone for the energy you create.

2️⃣ Focus on the Now
Instead of “I will be happy,” try “I am finding joy in the small moments.” Anchoring in the present builds momentum for bigger shifts.

3️⃣ Reframe Negative Narratives
Healing doesn’t mean ignoring pain—it means saying, “I am growing stronger every day,” even when it’s hard.

4️⃣ Claim What You Want
Speak as if it’s already yours:
💬 “I am worthy of love and abundance.”
💬 “I attract opportunities aligned with my purpose.”

5️⃣ Be Gentle with Yourself
If your trauma has left scars, don’t force positivity. Start small:
💬 “I am safe in this moment.”
💬 “I am open to good things finding me.”

6️⃣ Say It Out Loud
Write affirmations or goals, but also speak them. Let the vibration of your voice carry your intentions into the universe.

7️⃣ Surround Yourself with Affirming Energy

Watch how others talk around you. Limit exposure to negativity. Your environment matters when building a manifesting mindset.

Healing and manifesting aren’t opposites—they can exist together. Start where you are. Your words are seeds, and they will grow.

DEPRESSION TIPS:
Shower. Not a bath, a shower.
Use water as hot or cold as you like. You don’t even need to wash. Just get in under the water and let it run over you for a while. Sit on the floor if you gotta.

Moisturize everything.
Use whatever lotion you like.
Unscented? Dollar store lotion? Fancy 48 hour lotion that makes you smell like a field of wildflowers? Use whatever you want, and use it all over your entire dermis.

Put on clean, comfortable clothes.
Put on your favorite underwear.
Those ridiculous boxers you bought last christmas with candy cane hearts on the butt? Put them on.

Drink cold water.
Use ice. If you want, add some mint or lemon for an extra boost.

Clean something.
Doesn’t have to be anything big. Organize one drawer of a desk. Wash five dirty dishes. Do a load of laundry. Scrub the bathroom sink.

Blast music.
Listen to something upbeat and dancey and loud, something that’s got lots of energy. Sing to it, dance to it, even if you suck at both.

Make food.
Don’t just grab a granola bar to munch. Take the time and make food. Even if it’s ramen. Add something special to it, like a soft boiled egg or some veggies. Prepare food, it tastes way better, and you’ll feel like you accomplished something.

Make something.
Write a short story or a poem, draw a picture, color a picture, fold origami, crochet or knit, sculpt something out of clay, anything artistic. Even if you don’t think you’re good at it. Create.

Go outside.
Take a walk. Sit in the grass. Look at the clouds. Smell flowers. Put your hands in the dirt and feel the soil against your skin.

Call someone.
Call a loved one, a friend, a family member, call a chat service if you have no one else to call. Talk to a stranger on the street. Have a conversation and listen to someone’s voice. If you can’t bring yourself to call, text or email or whatever, just have some social interaction with another person. Even if you don’t say much, listen to them. It helps.

Cuddle your pets if you have them/can cuddle them.
Take pictures of them. Talk to them. Tell them how you feel, about your favorite movie, a new game coming out, anything.

May seem small or silly to some, but this list keeps people alive.

*** At your absolute best you won’t be good enough for the wrong people. But at your worst, you’ll still be worth it to the right ones. Remember that. Keep holding on.

*** In case nobody has told you today I love you and you are worth your weight and then some in gold, so be kind to yourself and most of all keep pushing on!!!!

By simply looking into the mirror for a certain amount of time each day and gently talking to yourself, you can foster a more compassionate and forgiving connection with yourself.

When working with trauma survivors, mirror work can create breakthroughs. It’s one of the many interventions in my healing toolbox.
