You can change your mind! in fact, the more open-handed we go into labor the more at peace we feel with the twists and turns and turns of it all.

Maybe you planned to skip cervical exams but decide you want one for reassurance. Maybe you opted for intermittent monitoring but feel more comfortable with continuous. Maybe you wanted an unmedicated birth but decide an epidural is the right choice for you in the moment. Maybe you declined an IV at first but later choose fluids or Pitocin to support your birth.

Birth isn’t about sticking to a plan—it’s about feeling safe, supported, and empowered in your choices.

Birth is a deeply personal and transformative experience, regardless of where it takes place. While many may dream of the serene atmosphere of an out-of-hospital birth, it's not always an option and it's essential to remember that a hospital setting can be just as enchanting with a little creativity and preparation.

Here are some tips to help you infuse your hospital birth with warmth and comfort:

1. Electric candles and twinkling lights can instantly soften the hospital environment, creating a calming and intimate atmosphere. Consider bringing battery-operated candles or fairy lights to adorn your space.

2. A portable diffuser with your favorite essential oils can fill the air with soothing scents, transforming your hospital room into a sanctuary of relaxation. Opt for gentle aromas like lavender or chamomile to promote tranquility.

3. Packing your own gown allows you to shed the standard hospital attire and slip into something that feels uniquely yours. Choose a gown that makes you feel comfortable and confident, whether it's a soft robe or a cozy night dress.

4. Don't forget to pack comfort items from home, such as your favorite pillow, cozy blanket, or even a plush towel. Surrounding yourself with familiar comforts can ease stress and enhance relaxation during labor and delivery. Remember to bring things that are easily washed!

5. Create a playlist and bring a speaker so you can bring your own vibes to the space in the form of music. Pro tip: Signing along to music in labor can help regulate your breathing!

Remember, your birth experience is uniquely yours, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach. By embracing the opportunity to customize your hospital birth environment, you can cultivate a sense of peace and tranquility amidst the clinical setting.

We'd love to hear from you! What are your favorite ways to make the hospital feel more like home? Share your tips and ideas in the comments below and let's inspire each other to create beautiful birthing experiences, wherever they may unfold. 💕

I AM a Masterpiece 🖼. And today I am here to announce that I will be releasing my first book in 2024! Date to be announced.

“An Anthology: A Seat at my Soul” © 2023; is a collection of my thoughts, essays, storytelling and poems on various topics through my own life experiences, to guide the reader in discovering their own authentic self by walking through their own emotional landscape and facing those parts we may tend to avoid and go deeper; from the areas of defining one’s origin of identity to the topic of love.

Are you ready to have a seat with me, as I use my own life experiences and words as a mirror for you to look at your own soul?

Can’t wait to share more with you!
