It’s 🍯 season from here on out we’ll have honey the rest of the year!!!! Check the frame out in the back from a swarm we caught at our friend .white126 house. You can tell it’s definitely a “wild” swarm from the way the bees continue to build the comb. If any friends have a swarm of bees in Licking County please contact us we’d love to try and save them and give them a good home!

Is your honey starting to look like this? No worries, it’s just crystallizing. This is a natural process that raw honey goes through, and is totally safe to eat! Raw honey is NOT FILTERED. It is strained to remove any particles left behind by the bees. Filtered honey goes through a process where it is heated then rapidly cooled. This prevents it from crystallizing, but the heat also kills most of the enzymes, vitamins, minerals and amino acids and the filtering removes most of the pollen. A lot of store bought honey is also cut with high fructose corn syrup as a filler making a cheaper way for bigger companies to make more money 😠 A couple things you can do if your honey has crystallized. You can leave it, it will melt in hot drinks and recipes. If you like your honey liquid, you can put it in a pot of warm water (100 F) for about 15 minutes and it should start to liquefy again. It’s still tasty and beneficial either way!

Get yourself a sponge and suds up! Check out for some beautifully hand crafted soap that smells as good as it looks! They offer several different kinds and scents of soap, but of course our favorite is their Honey Goat and Oat, made with their goat milk plus our local honey 🍯 🐐 🐝 🧼

We have a little helper here at Newark Honey Company. He’s great at watching over our bees. Here he is being an excellent helper by making sure the empty honey combs are bug free and ready for the bees to clean them up to start a new hive. Got dirty combs? No worries. Bees are neat freaks and will clean up an old dusty comb to make it brand new!
