💚🌎 happy earth day! honored to be featured as one of the many woman rethinking environmentalism by and 🌱 as a black woman, I realize our voices and experiences are so often marginalized in this space.

So it’s a proud and refreshing moment to have my work and ideas shared alongside peers I so deeply respect, and on earth day nonetheless ☺️

I was featured on Forbes last week and didn’t tell anyone 😶 I saw the google alert on my phone, smiled so big, took a screenshot, and then only posted on my private twitter account (hoping too many people wouldn’t see). I didn’t put it in my friends group chat, I didn’t tell my family, I didn’t post here...bc who the hell am I to be in Forbes talking about my business?

Imposter syndrome is so real. I’ve been experiencing a lot of success and receiving so many opportunities that I am endlessly grateful for. But most days I wonder why me? 😫 Black women especially are socialized to make ourselves small, be too humble, and second guess our brilliance. I am unlearning these things in real time and i know I’m not alone.

🗣 I want to see more of us celebrate our wins out loud starting now: What is something you accomplished and haven’t acknowledged or celebrated? 🎉 Let us cheer you on and remind you how deserving you are!

Never count yourself out ✨ In March I was 1 month into full time entrepreneurship, and had no idea what I would do with all my sales events cancelled due to COVID-19. Now, I’m featured by as one of the many black women entrepreneurs navigating this change with resiliency and innovation 🙌🏾
Thank you so much for writing my story authentically and for these beautiful photos. And my dad for being my hype man 💙

I spent a lot of time documenting myself during quarantine. Capturing photos and videos on self-timer and tripods when I felt most beautiful, raw, or interesting. The last few weeks have been such a whirlwind I haven’t taken time for self portraits. But I felt the urge to snap these at the end of my work day last night and love how they came out.

When’s the last time you took a moment to really see yourself? @ Newark, New Jersey

Today I’m grateful for being able to sit in the park solo for 2 hours and bask in the sun, read, and journal. I woke up this morning and decided I was gonna give myself a break from the pressure to be productive and just do things that feel good. That included sleeping in, eating plantains and kiwi, walking to the park, and talking to my friends on FaceTime. If you have the luxury of extra time right now, try to fill it with things that bring you joy ✨ @ New Jersey

It’s such a privilege to be able to do work that puts a smile this big on my face 🥰 Building .co is so much fun for me, but this last week has been a challenge. A couple weeks ago I was shooting product, getting ready for a launch, taking client meetings, and booking work travel. Now I’ve been home, reflecting on what this means for my business, refocusing on my physical and mental health, and figuring out a “new normal.” Amidst everything, I’m humbled by the amount of people asking how they can still support me and .co in all of this. 🙏🏾 What’s most helpful right now is sharing our products and placing online orders —anything over $20 ships for free and comes with a special thank you note from yours truly ✨

When you walk in your purpose, you attract people who match your energy ✨ I’m surrounded by so many talented boss ass women who move through the world *with integrity*. Grateful for a spirit of discernment so I can see the real ones and keep em close! Tap to see some of those women I’m celebrating this month, and always ❤️ @ Ethel's Club

Can you believe I pulled this bag out of a trash can last night? 😩 I went to for dinner after teaching class (yes I also moonlight as an adjunct professor 👩🏾‍🏫 ) and noticed they were giving out meals in these reusable totes. I thought it was a great way to give people reusables and encourage them to bring their own bags, in light of the . BUT THEN I watched a man throw away this barely used, clean bag after finishing his meal. 😓 I audibly gasped before going behind him to take it out and bring home. Lessons learned:

1. I’m now that person that takes things out the trash 😭
2. This was a classic example of how this plastic ban is useless without education 👏🏾about 👏🏾waste
3. If you are using or receiving reusable non-plastic bags, please actually reuse them ♻️ Otherwise, we’re just creating another form of unnecessary waste.

Have you ever thought about where your trash goes? 🗑 Today I got to see one of the largest landfill sites in the country with and and see up close where our trash gets processed. We saw sneakers, tennis balls, shredded car parts, lots of rubber, textiles, and more on over 200 acres. I left with a new appreciation for all the important work that the folks at do everyday—this location alone manages 14,000 tons of waste daily. Check my stories for some highlights and look out for a full recap with key takeaways soon. @ Waste Management - Fairless Landfill

Working woman ✨ Had so much fun bringing .co to ’s Buy Black Marketplace last night 🙌🏾 My days have been long and eventful lately as a business owner and I’m ready to share more about that part of my life here! Non-toxic product reviews, chronicles, and are here to stay, but I’m mixing in more of the entrepreneurship, design, and digital media content that I’m also passionate about sharing —now lets all hope I feel this same way after mercury is out of micro braids 🥴 @ Airbnb

One of my intentions for this year overall was to give myself the same grace and patience that I extend to others because *I deserve it* 🙌🏾 Tonight is a new moon and I’ll be home reflecting on that and setting some new intentions by candlelight with Sade playing lightly in the background ✨ Will you be doing the same? I’m excited to spend some intentional time thinking about what this next month will be like as I step into a lot of BIG CHANGES.
💡If you have some intentions you’d like to set for the new moon but don’t know where to start here are some tips:
1. Find a place to write them down—Preferably in the .co intention journal 😌 but any paper will do
2. Reflect on something that you want to improve, change, or manifest and write it down ✍🏾
3.Think of one mindset shift or new habit you can create to make that a reality and write it down✍🏾
4. Repeat these intentions to yourself every day especially in the challenging moments to remind yourself of where you want to go ✨
