🟡yoga practice asks us to slow down. to exercise presence. when we are with our practice we remember there is space for action, inaction, both. there are moments for leaning into emotion and staying with it, and still other moments for moving forward with action steps.

in yogic texts the concepts of yamas and niyamas can be helpful guides for difficult times. In particular, I’ve been engrossed the last several days with the concepts: tapas (discipline, study) and satya (benevolence-truthfulness). where and how do we stand for truths that are ours, and those that belong to others? how do we share and shed benevolence in community, and everyday interactions?

Tapas urges us to follow disciplinary practices like yoga and meditation, and to do it (at least somewhat) for the benefit of others.
this does not mean we don’t call reps. we all should. in the meantime, we take care of ourselves and our communities and lean into these practices. yoga was built to help us/me/you to weather the difficult times.
