Tips for cold & flu season from your friendly neighborhood herbalist:
1. If you or a loved one comes down with symptoms, try saying “we’re getting sick, that’s unfortunate” instead of “OH NO! What are we going to DO?!” How you feel about getting sick matters. Remember it’s an opportunity to rest, not a requirement to freak out.
2. Herbs and supplements matter, but rest matters most. Identify things on your schedule that don’t hurt to reschedule, and cancel or reschedule them immediately. Rest as much as humanly possible and support your immune system during this time.
3. Homework: research and try to adopt the terrain theory in your life; or at least regard it as highly as the germ theory. To blame sickness 100% on viral exposure is blissful ignorance. It absolves us of all responsibility for our health. Learn and embrace the terrain theory about health.
4. Antiviral herbs promote a powerful response from your body (the terrain) when you’re exposed to viruses (the germs). Elderberry when taken regularly proves to ward off viruses AND stops them from replicating in the body. Elderberry is an excellent preventative, and can also be dosed multiple times daily in early sickness.
5. If you get laid out with illness, praise the Lord! In ALL things, let us rejoice and give thanks! It’s amazing how fast you can go from “I just don’t have time to be in God’s Word” to that’s all you have time for at all 🤪 There’s a lot of good sermons out there you can enjoy while you’re laid up. Enjoy them. Use this time to honor God. You will be overjoyed to know prayer and meditation will bless you in your illness far more than a cup of hot tea 😇
God is good all the time! In sickness and in health! Getting sick isn’t the end of the world and a lot of fruit can come from sick days 💜 Remember - your health is YOUR responsibility, never anyone else’s. Holistic health means looking at the whole picture: mind, body, soul. That terrain we speak of is the Lord’s temple, and we do well to give it extra rest and sunshine this time of year.
Merry Christmas everybody!
GLORY TO THE NEWBORN KING! ✝️
Take care of yourself, and each other 🤓
