Let's Get Healthy Let's Get Healthy is all about eating right, exercising, and feeling beautiful in whatever size you are in! The goal is to have POSITIVE support! Hi!

This page has been created to help me on my journey to get healthy! I hope by posting everything (even the ugly bits) that I will inspire others to do the same! So, let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Heather, and I am a stay-at-home mom who is trying to grow her own business. I have 2 beautiful daughters and a wonderful son. Heaven is 21 and in college to be a graphic designer. Temperance is 18, works as a personal care aide and is working on her degree in healthcare management. Alex is 23 and in the US Army. My wonderful husband is medically retired from the military after serving 2 tours in Iraq. Here comes the purpose of this page! After my hubby's retirement, we moved back to my hometown. A place where outdoor activities are unlimited! Unfortunately, I have let my health get so poor that I am not able to enjoy doing a lot of these things with my girls. It makes me mad and sad. So, my journey to getting healthy begins.

Today’s journey! Had my usual coffee and protein shake for breakfast, then got orders ready to ship. After making a post office run, hubby and I stopped at Family Park for a 30 minute walk! Then home for some of my moms leftover vegetable beef soup from Sunday dinner with 1 slice of whole wheat toast. Dinner was lemon pesto chicken with an arugula and peach salad with halloumi cheese (thank you eMeals) It’s really been a great day!

Oh! And I weighed in this morning at 289.6 Not a number I like, but it is still going down so I will take it! 15 lbs down so far and a long ways to go! I will get there, 1 day at a time!

Breakfast this morning was coffee and a protein shake as usual! I got busy with work, school and housecleaning and almost forgot lunch! So I went super light since it was almost 2: 15 slices small pepperoni with 1 string cheese and 1 Oz veggie chips.

For dinner: Salsa verde ranch steak (4 Oz steak with 1 tbsp sauce) and corn with tomatoes and peppers (1 cup). The tomatoes are fresh from Nikki Bailey ‘s garden! (PS I might need some more, Sis! 😂)

So how about a little insight to what we are eating these days? We have been using eMeals low carb menu and so far almost all of them have been a hit! Pictured is a sample of meals from one day.

Breakfast: Coffee with collagen and a protein shake
Lunch: Cobb Salad Turkey Roll Ups (pic)
Dinner: Pizza Frittata with Sausage and Kale (pic)
Dessert: Sugar Free Strawberry Shortcake (I use stevia sweetener)

Portion size for me: I eat off of a side or bread plate. Turkey roll ups, I ate 2 (but did not have a snack in the afternoon). Frittata: I had one small slice and a bite off my hubby’s.

I’m going to go backwards just a touch. Wednesday hubby had appointments at the VA. With some time to kill between appointments, we decided to go to lunch. We had never been to the Black Bear Diner, so we decided to check it out. OMG it was amazing! And as you can tell 1 plate was an enormous amount of food! We each made 3 meals apiece out of the our plates!

Part of my eating better journey has been learning when I am full. This has meant portioning out my food when I am restaurants so that I’m not tempted to eat just because it’s still there. All to often I would catch myself nibbling just to have something to do with my hands. By portioning and asking for a to go box when our meal arrives, it makes it a lot easier for me to stop when I’m actually full.

Hi y’all! There have been a lot of starts and stops in my journey. I was supposed to be getting gastric surgery this month, but unfortunately that won’t be happening anytime soon. So, what now? Well, I show them (and myself) that I can do this on my own! With help from my friends and family of course!!

Hubby and I started eating healthier about 5 months ago. Hubby doesn’t have to be as strict as me since he is not as heavy and a lot more active. Even with an injury (broke foot), the past 6 weeks I have managed to lose 15 lbs. Stay tuned for the next post when I will fill you in on our eating plan!

Well, my Fitbit died so I had to upgrade my tracker 😂! I’m loving the circles thing so far. It definitely helps me remember to get up from the desk during the day and move! As far as the weight loss goes, I’m still staying pretty steady even though there have been more setbacks and injuries. So yesterday was my new start to workouts after being released by the doc. Please say a prayer for no more injuries!
