I hold space where people feel safe enough to tell the truth, understand how their past shaped their relationships, and heal without shame.

Shame keeps people silent.

Leadership breaks the silence.

After becoming a teen mom, Aisha began noticing a pattern. So many of her peers quietly believed, “It won’t happen to me.” Pregnancy scares were whispered about, carried privately, wrapped in fear.
Instead of hiding her story, she chose to use it.

What began as a hard chapter became a platform. Aisha brought the idea of teen pregnancy prevention presentations to . Together, they built a plan, gained support, and took the message straight to their peers.

Proactive over private.
Honest over shame.
Prevention over silence.

Healing is not just about surviving your story.
It is about using it to change what happens next.

Do things happen to you… or for you?

That one shift in perspective can change everything.

When life feels heavy, unfair, or out of your control, it’s easy to believe it’s happening to you. But what if there’s something being shaped within you instead of taken from you?

Not everything feels good. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t growing you.

The question is… how do you want to see it?

Are we living a biography… or a recipe?

I’ve been sitting with this question, and it’s been quietly shifting something in me.

A biography keeps us looking back.
It says, this is what happened, this is who I’ve been, this is the pattern.
And if we’re not careful, we can start to believe that story is fixed.

But a recipe invites participation.
It says, given what’s in front of me, what am I going to create?
What am I keeping? What am I leaving out? What needs to change?

When I think about Jesus, His life was written like a story…
but it was given to us as a way to live.

Not to perform perfectly.
Not to measure up.
But to model something different.

A way of loving without losing yourself.
A way of telling the truth without fear.
A way of resting without guilt.
A way of staying rooted, even when everything around you feels uncertain.

So maybe the question isn’t just about what we believe.
Maybe it’s about what we’re practicing.

Am I just retelling my story…
or am I willing to live something new?

Because at some point, we have to stop explaining the pattern
and start choosing differently.

And maybe that’s where real change begins.

Valentine’s Day is a manufactured holiday.

And you might actually need it.

Not for roses.
Not for dinner reservations.
Not for a perfectly curated post.

But for the pause.

Because real love is not the highlight reel.

It is how you speak when you are exhausted.
It is how you repair after you mess up.
It is choosing curiosity over control.
It is staying in your own hula hoop and letting someone else stay in theirs.

Real love looks like:

Softening when you want to shut down.
Saying I am sorry.
Saying I see you.
Letting yourself be seen.

And sometimes, the bravest love of all
is offering that same tenderness to yourself.

If today feels sweet, lean in.
If today feels heavy, breathe.
If today feels lonely, remember this:

Your worth is not measured by who sends flowers.

So maybe this day is manufactured.
Or maybe it is just a reminder.

To love more honestly.
To forgive more freely.
To come home to yourself.

What does real love look like in your life right now?

🤍

Lisa explores how easy it is to lead with a polished version of ourselves instead of our real needs. Wanting to be liked, accepted, or seen as strong often keeps vulnerability at a distance.

As shared by , these patterns can show up even in spaces meant for healing.

This is why beginning therapy and building support outside of family can feel intimidating. Questions about trust, safety, and judgment naturally surface. Sometimes connection begins out of necessity. Other times it requires intentionally seeking community that can hold space for honesty and growth.

Healing does not require perfection. It requires courage, support, and the willingness to be seen as you are.

Two events, two hearts, one weekend, one purpose.

Getting to build, serve, laugh, and show up alongside .l.i never gets old. From the 100 Inning Game to the grand opening of , this weekend was a reminder of why we do what we do, and the gratitude that we get to do it together!

There is something sacred about this.

Not because it broke but because it was honest enough to be released.

This plate held words, prayers, lessons, hopes. It carried 2025, a year lived with intention. My word for 2025 was Intentional and it asked me to choose carefully, feel deeply, and release what no longer fit.

And now, looking ahead 2026 is Victory.

Not the loud kind.
Not the performative kind.
But the quiet, earned victory that comes from doing the inner work from letting go with clarity and trusting what’s being built next.

Here’s to intentional living and the victory that follows.

There’s nothing like watching our 10 year old dig deep. Seeing him fight for every play, trust his coaches, lean on his teammates, and trust himself. He doesn’t always get it perfect, but he gives everything he’s got.

It’s something special to watch that mix of boy and becoming. The moments he still looks for your eyes in the crowd, then turns back to lead like he’s been doing this his whole life.

He’s learning what it means to give his best. To show up when it’s hard. To love the game. This kid is special.

Today was a simple reminder that leadership isn’t only about showing up for others. It’s also about slowing down with them.

Our team took time at the nail salon today to pause, reflect, and make two very needed deposits, one into self care and one into gratitude.

As a leader, I’ve learned that creating space for reflection and rest isn’t optional. It’s what keeps our roots healthy. Gratitude is more than a feeling. It’s a practice. It’s looking around at the people beside you and recognizing the beauty in their growth, the heart in their work, and the way they carry your shared mission forward.

Today I’m thankful for this team, for the work we do, and for the quiet moments that remind us why we do it.

This Thanksgiving looked a little different.

Beau, Ry, and Syd were with their other families, and when people asked what we were doing, the answer was simple. Nothing. Just the four of us, ten pounds of crab, and time together that felt easy and real.

Blended families have their own rhythm. Sometimes together, sometimes apart, but always rooted in love that grows in every direction.

Back in 2007, I remember sitting with this quiet but persistent vision to see mental health care in our community grow into something more connected, more excellent, and more human. At the time, it felt like a dream, maybe even too big. But I knew North Port needed more. More support. More collaboration. More heart.

Fast forward to today watching a group of local therapists come together with genuine energy and shared purpose fills me with so much gratitude. What I once hoped for is actually taking shape. We’re not just serving our clients; we’re showing up for each other and for the city we love.

I’m proud and humbled to witness what’s unfolding a network of professionals who care deeply, think creatively, and are willing to do the hard, meaningful work of community healing.

Our next gathering can’t come soon enough. I can’t wait to keep dreaming, building, and growing alongside all of you. 🌿

Ryleigh absolutely lit up the room last night. MVP and a new school record in the 100 backstroke. What a reflection of her grit, her heart, and the quiet discipline she shows every single day. This girl rises. She leads with humility. She shows up for her teammates and never asks for spotlight, which makes moments like this even sweeter. Watching her receive these awards was a reminder of just how rooted she is becoming in who she is. So proud of you Ry. You earned every bit of this and more. 🏆
