It took me a very long tome to give up the weight loss paradigm of eat less/move more. That strategy worked for me for a long time. Probably because I exercised for a living and it’s easy to get the amount of exercise it takes to sustain the level it takes to lose weight that way when you’re getting paid.
Something changed when I hit menopause. That eat less/ move more strategy stopped working. At first I didn’t believe it. So I kept at it for a few years even as the menopausal weight continued to increase. Even both my doctors (GP and OBGYN) said that I needed to take a serious look at my portion sizes and I needed to exercise more. Really????? Did you not listen to a word I said about what I do for a living??
So I took my health into my own hands and now I help other women to do the same thing. I almost gave up on myself but I didn’t and now I am so happy that I was forced to learn a new way to nourish myself. It was changed my life. I never thought I’d ever lose the craving for sugar or that my appetite would regulate itself. I look better and feel better than I have in years and it’s all thanks to changing my diet. One of my girl friends calls me Benjamin Button. I like that.

I don't know about you guys, but I really crave the frothy, sweet, fun holiday drinks that are advertised and sold everywhere at this time a year. I searched around to some of the people I trust and follow and found this great recipe for a Peppermint Mocha. It really hits the spot. I found it on Dr. Will Cole's blog. Enjoy! I sure did!!

Keto-Friendly Peppermint Mocha
Ingredients:
½ cup coconut or almond milk
½ cup hot coffee
¼ teaspoon peppermint extract
½ teaspoon cacao powder
½ teaspoon, or more, stevia or monk fruit to taste
1 tablespoon MCT oil
Method:
In a saucepan over medium heat, mix together coffee, dairy-free milk of choice, peppermint, cacao, MCT oil, and sweetener of choice.
Stir until heated through and fully combined.
Pour into a mug and enjoy.
Optional: If you have a milk frother, froth to make more creamy and top with coconut whip for additional healthy fats if you desire.

Industrial Diets are Making Us Sick
A recent survey conducted by the National Cancer Institute asked Americans about their diet from the previous day. Only 9% of those asked consumed three or more servings of vegetables or two or more servings of fruit on the previous day. One in nine surveyed had no servings of vegetables or fruits on the previous day. In the United States, for example, 46 cents of every food dollar is spent on meals and snacks away from home. Convenience stores have increased by 50% in the last
decade. The typical American consumes 48 pounds of high fructose corn syrup annually, mostly via soft drinks. In 2015, the average American consumed more than their body weight in sweeteners and salt. Four percent of the energy use in the United States goes to packaging food, which is about the same amount as the energy used to grow food. This is almost as much energy as flows through the Alaska pipeline. The 36 million tons of food packaging used in 2015 equals about 290 pounds per
person. Americans drink more carbonated soft drinks than plain water. Soft drink output rose from 64 billion servings (12 ounces) in 1980, to 85 billion servings in 1990. In 1990 Americans spent $5 billion on potato chips and corn chips, $66 billion on fast food, and $44 billion for so; drinks.
The same patterns can be seen in industrialized countries across the world. This diet is KILLING us!!
