Talia will be joining Maggie Petry, CNM also a former First Breath midwife, as well as Meghan Mercado, CNM and former birth assistant at Harmony Health and Homebirth. Harmony will be serving both Illinois and Missouri families.

Hello First Breath clients and other supporters,

It is with heavy hearts that have to announce that the birth center will come to a close on 12/31/2022.

There have been many people that have poured their hearts into this mission since 2013.

Unfortunately, with state requirements increasing, insurance reimbursements dropping, supply costs skyrocketing, not to mention COVID causing loss of employment/income for many of our clients, we just had no other choice,
and it actually happened quite suddenly.

Over the years, First Breath has fought the state long and hard, fought insurance companies long and hard and even fought the judgment of the “Medical” community, just so we could give our Mommas a chance to receive care with the only Out-Of-Hospital stand alone birth center in Missouri.

First Breath has always functioned more as a mission to those that have worked here; many have worked long hard hours, sometimes with no compensation, just to be able to keep us going.

Honestly, everyone serving here have always had big hearts, kind souls and been totally committed to the Out-of-Hospital birth
journey for our amazing clients and their families.

We thank everyone for their continued support over the years, including the many owners, providers, staff, and collaborators who have given so much of themselves, and of course all the amazing 1,726 Moms and families we have had the chance to serve over the years!

Two loving supportive husbands
Two waterbirths
Two baby boys 💙💙
One rockstar nurse
One proud midwife 🥹

This mama was calm, cool and collected, even with a VERY fast birth!

First birth looong, second birth fast. What could a third one bring...? 😌
