Dr. Axel Baumgartner joined Dr. Wright at the Harvard-sponsored Boston Lymphatic Symposium this week. It was an honor to exchange insight with one of the pioneers in the field of Lipedema surgery.

One of the most common questions patients ask is:

How long do the results of Lipedema reduction surgery last?
Will symptoms return? Will tissue regrow?

Dr. Baumgartner is widely recognized as a world authority on Lipedema surgery and has published the longest follow-up data to date on surgical outcomes. In his recent publication, he reports that patients who underwent Lipedema reduction liposuction maintained their improvements for more than 12 years.

Importantly, patients who continued conservative management — including compression therapy and dietary guidance — reported sustained benefits such as:
• Reduced pain
• Decreased sensitivity to pressure
• Improved mobility
• Enhanced quality of life
