HOW TO AVOID YOUR WEALTH FROM FLYING AWAY.(PROVERBS 23:5)
Traditional spirituality sees wealth as energy, not just currency. If the energy is not welcomed, contained, and respected, it will vanish. Rituals, offerings, and personal discipline are key to maintaining wealth spiritually.
🔴 1. Appease Your Personal Spiritual Forces
Igbo: Appease your Chi (personal spirit) and ndi ichie (ancestors) through small offerings (kolanut, alligator pepper, palm wine).
Yoruba: Regularly honor your Orí (inner head) with offerings such as coconut, honey, shea butter, and water.
Ibibio/Efik: Honor the eka-eka (ancestral spirit) with libation and local drinks like mmanyaha, ukot (palm wine).
🪔 Purpose: When your personal spiritual guardians are respected, they stabilize your path, including your finances.
🔴 2. Perform a Wealth Retention Ritual (Depending on Your Tradition)
This is usually done to “tie down” wealth or block spiritual thieves (like witchcraft, envy, or curses) that cause loss of money.
Items commonly used:
White cloth or white plate (symbol of purity)
Snail or tortoise shell (symbol of patience and wealth retention)
Local coins or cowries
Alligator pepper
Charcoal (to absorb negative energy)
How it works: These items are often spoken over (with incantations), then placed at a sacred spot (like a shrine, junction, or under a tree) to spiritually ‘tie’ wealth to the owner.
🔴 3. Avoid Wasteful and Spiritually Unclean Spending
Money that comes from clean spiritual sources should not be:
Spent on ritually unclean activities (e.g., adultery, defiling places with blood, betrayal).
Used for excessive showoff — it attracts spiritual envy (called anya ukwu or “evil eye”).
> 🔒 Solution: Practice discretion and share wealth responsibly, with alms to the poor and support to family/community.
🔴 4. Cleanse Your Money and Hands Spiritually
Money can be “spiritually polluted.” To cleanse:
Wash your hands with salt and warm water or native soap (ose dudu or Ncha Nkwu) after major transactions.
Spray or sprinkle local gin or palm wine on money meant for ritual or offering before use.
Some traditions rub charcoal powder or camphor on wallets to spiritually “lock” wealth.
🔴 5. Monthly Offerings for Financial Flow
At the beginning of each month:
Offer kolanut, salt, honey, and white candle to your spiritual guardian.
Speak prayers like:
> “Let my money not grow wings; may it stay with me and increase; let my hands not lack; let wealth remember my name.”
