We promote & support healthy foods and physical activity in Alameda County! Healthy Living..For Life!

In Alameda County, the three leading causes of death are heart disease, cancer and stroke, which can be directly linked to poor nutrition habits and the lack of physical activity. To address these and other chronic diseases, as well as the growing rate of obesity, Nutrition Services has adopted a vision that all residents live in safe, connected neighborhoods that offer fresh, affordable foods; choose active, healthy lifestyles; and are engaged in their communities. In 2003, Nutrition Services introduced the Healthy Living…for life campaign, a community outreach initiative designed to raise awareness about nutrition and physical activity, encourage organizations to work collaboratively and mobilize the community to make Alameda County a model for healthy eating and physical activity. Health Living…for life offers a broad spectrum of programs aimed at changing behaviors to create healthy lifestyles. The campaign’s creative and innovative programs are being developed and executed in schools, with seniors, and in collaboration with a wide range of community partners whose programs reach low-income, food stamp eligible residents across Alameda County.

Community Day Out, Neighborhood Block Party. It was as a good day to Rethink Your Drink, get a chair massage, listen to a good DJ, break bread and be in community. Nice coordination by SAHA, St. Mary’s, Hoover RAC, West Oakland Neighbors, CCH and the City of Oakland. We are honored to partner with you.
