Please help me by sharing this post far and wide!

‼️🚨‼️
Please consider helping my friend and fellow NC public school teacher, Mallory Furlow and her husband as they navigate their son’s health journey. Jon David will be undergoing his 7th surgery (and hopefully last) at Duke to correct his CHD TOMORROW, 6/12!!!!!

Connor received his make-a-wish this summer! He asked for a pool with a deck so he could go swimming with his family whenever he wanted! He is one happy kiddo! These past two days have been a whirlwind. Connor got to ring the bell to signify the end of his chemo treatment! So many amazing things happened! From the Texas Roadhouse staff singing to him with a free desert all the way to the police es**rt home and everything in between. We are so blessed to be loved by the best. Thank you everyone for joining us on this journey! We will continue to go to Duke monthly for a while, but at least Connor will not need chemo! 😍❤️

We have some big news to share!!

Our superhero finishes his chemotherapy treatment on 2/25/2022 which will conclude exactly 850 days of chemotherapy treatment. Connor will finally get to ring the bell on 3/7/22 and we couldn’t be more excited!
🎗🧡🎗

Also, Connor will become a big brother again to another little sister this summer! 🥰😍🎀 He is so excited for “two sassy little sisters!”

Hey everyone! Sorry it’s been a little while since we last checked in!

We have some big news!
CONNOR HAD HIS LAST LUMBAR PUNCTURE WITH INTRATHECAL CHEMOTHERAPY ON 1/11/22!

What does this mean?
This means that Connor is nearing the end of his treatment! Connor has his next appointment on 2/7. At this appointment we will be discussing the plans for discontinuing his daily chemotherapy! At this time, Connor still takes daily chemotherapy (mercaptopurine) and allopurinol as well as weekly chemotherapy (methotrexate). He is also completing his last round of steroids this week! Connor will likely keep his port until he finishes the next 6 months of pentamidine, but he should be cleared to have it removed after that!

We should be ringing the bell in the next few months and we couldn’t be more excited! 😍❤️

Connor would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!! We finally got to go to the mountains this past week after waiting two long years for Connor to be healthy enough to make the trip. He said it was the best vacation EVER! We think the smiles tell the story! Daily chemo doesn't keep this boy down!! God is good!!

Well…

WE ARE HOME! 🙌🏻

Thank you all for your prayers! They were heard and Connor checked out ok after a big scare!

On the table for diagnosis prior to this morning was:
-AVN (Avascular Necrosis)
-Secondary Cancer: Sarcoma
-Infection
-blood pooling in his knee
-Non specific swelling

After our consult with the Orthopaedic Oncology Surgeons at the Sarcoma Clinic in the Duke Cancer Center this morning, they were very pleased to inform us that they did not believe Connor would need the surgery that they were anticipating for tomorrow. They are not sure why Connor has so much swelling in this joint, but thankfully, that’s all this seems to be! 🙌🏻

Also, I’m sure folks are going to ask, “Why can’t they remove the pocket of swelling?”

Well, Connor’s ANC (his body’s ability to fight infection) is VERY low right now and it would not be safe. It’s also invasive and unnecessary. Connor is currently on a “chemo hold” while we wait for his counts to recover. We will continue to monitor his knee and have our monthly checks at Duke. We should be able to resume his nightly chemo next week after his weekly count check on Monday.

Again, thank you so much for your prayers! 🙏🏻
