Well…
WE ARE HOME! 🙌🏻
Thank you all for your prayers! They were heard and Connor checked out ok after a big scare!
On the table for diagnosis prior to this morning was:
-AVN (Avascular Necrosis)
-Secondary Cancer: Sarcoma
-Infection
-blood pooling in his knee
-Non specific swelling
After our consult with the Orthopaedic Oncology Surgeons at the Sarcoma Clinic in the Duke Cancer Center this morning, they were very pleased to inform us that they did not believe Connor would need the surgery that they were anticipating for tomorrow. They are not sure why Connor has so much swelling in this joint, but thankfully, that’s all this seems to be! 🙌🏻
Also, I’m sure folks are going to ask, “Why can’t they remove the pocket of swelling?”
Well, Connor’s ANC (his body’s ability to fight infection) is VERY low right now and it would not be safe. It’s also invasive and unnecessary. Connor is currently on a “chemo hold” while we wait for his counts to recover. We will continue to monitor his knee and have our monthly checks at Duke. We should be able to resume his nightly chemo next week after his weekly count check on Monday.
Again, thank you so much for your prayers! 🙏🏻
