Double the love, double the magic! 💜💜

My first placenta encapsulation of 2026 was extra special — TWINS!! 💜💜
I’ve only had the honor of encapsulating for one other incredible twin mom before, so this was such a neat and educational experience. I do just love helping moms postpartum with this service!

These sweet babies were fraternal twins, each with their own placenta and amniotic sac — truly amazing to witness how beautifully different they were. 💜
(And if you look closely, you can see just how neat those amniotic sacs were too! )

Forever in awe of the human body and the stories each birth tells.

Beautiful morning in Southern California!! This midwife is officially off call for births for the next 2.5weeks! I still will have clinic days and placentas but not on call for births. So thankful for this time to regroup, recharge and relax and enjoy some phone free time with my family. (Also time to complete my annual house reorganization / deep clean out done!) Time off is absolutely essential for me keeping midwifery sustainable for our family. I’m looking forward to coming back to help some amazing families welcome their babies in 2026.

Final postpartum flowers for 2025! It’s such an honor to be invited in and be part families first few days with their little ones.

And just like that… the last sweet 2025 baby in my practice has arrived. The little ones born this December are just adorable! No Christmas babies this year—but oh so close!

There is always something deeply magical about bearing witness to little one’s peaceful arrivals, but births this time of year feel especially sacred. The stillness, the softness, the way families slow down to soak it all in.

Birth bags are cleaned, restocked, and ready. One final clinic day tomorrow—then it’s time for a little beachside downtime before my oldest kiddo heads back to college and we begin preparing to welcome the 2026 babies.

So grateful for every family who trusted me with such tender moments this year. 💜

Final pre-Christmas clinic day ✔️🎄

I could not pass up the chance to wear my speculum reindeer shirt—much to the absolute horror of my tweenagers. (Worth it. Always worth it.) 😂

Now we wait on one final 2025 very sweet little one to arrive… and my families betting pool is officially open. I’ve attended births the past two Christmases, so the big question is:
✨ Will this be Christmas Birth #3 in a row?
🌧️ Or will the rain bring a cozy pre-Christmas arrival?

Either way, bags are ready, Christmas presents are wrapped and craft and cookie decorating is in full swing at our house until I get the birth call. This midwife is feeling grateful, festive. ❤️

Beautiful way to start a day in SoCal 💜
A few pictures from my early morning walk—crisp air, a little chill, and excitement for rain coming soon. If you’re in Southern California, you know how excited we get when rain is on the horizon, especially when little ones are in dates for arrival! ☔️💜

I ask all my clients to find time to walk 30min daily during their pregnancy, and try to do at least the same myself. A few sweet reminders of why it matters:
• Regular walking can help improve circulation, support healthy blood sugar levels, and reduce common aches and pains. Plus it costs nothing outside of your time!
• Walking encourages optimal baby positioning and can support stamina and endurance for birth.

A simple walk, a deep breath, and a little time outside can be so nourishing—for body, mind, and growing babies and overall health when not pregnant. 💜

Amazing!!! 👏

Amazing!!! 👏

"I am one of the lucky few who took 12 weeks of maternity leave. I was paid for 10 weeks. When I returned from work, I was able to bring my baby with to work. Boulder County has a policy called 'Infant at Work' that allows parents to bring their infant to work until they are mobile (crawling, walking). HR supplies returning moms with private lactation rooms with hospital grade pumps. HR gives all moms their own Medela kits to connect to pumps at county buildings. In addition, HR provides all employees who choose to bring their infant to work with a Pack n Play portable crib, Boppy pillow and bouncer. This is what PROGRESS looks like!

I am SO grateful for my employers commitment to support breastfeeding in the workplace. In addition, my job offers flexible work schedules (four 10's or five 9's and every other week take a day off) and teleworking. With the support of my employer and colleagues I have been breastfeeding my daughter for 13 months and counting! I feel that I have been able to find a work life balance and continue in a career I am passionate about (social work) and nurse my baby! I will continue nursing until she is ready to be done." - Naomi

⬆️ THAT is support for breastfeeding! Was your experience anything like Naomi's?
