When endurance athletes confuse detachment with not caring, they either grip too tightly or check out altogether.

Detachment isn’t apathy.

It’s learning how to care without letting emotion run the show.

Real detachment is what allows you to stay present, steady, and committed — through hard training, race-day pressure, and the ups and downs along the way.

Especially relevant for endurance athletes who care deeply about their goals.

This year marks 10 years of YogiTriathlete.

Ten years of meeting athletes where they are.
Ten years of learning by doing.
Ten years of standing on start lines and courses like this one.

Between now and race day, BJ will be out running the Ironman 70.3 Oceanside run course every Sunday morning.

Because this course matters.
And because experience is best shared together.

If you’re local and want to join, you’re welcome.
All levels.
All stories.
Come run the course with someone who knows it well.

Send a DM to YogiTriathlete and we’ll connect you.
Ten years in, still showing up. 🌊🏃‍♂️

Burnout doesn’t usually happen all at once. It builds quietly.

This photo is from a race in the earlier days of building YogiTriathlete, when BJ was under-fueled and running on willpower alone — holding the work, the push back, the vision, and the dream, while still getting his training in.

By the finish line, it caught up with him.

It became one of those moments that taught us a lot.

We’re human. We learn through experience. And we’ve been in this sport long enough to understand what actually supports sustainable performance.

That’s why we coach the way we do today — not from theory, but from living it.

Burnout isn’t inevitable.
It’s preventable.

We shared more about our holistic approach to endurance training on the blog and the pod.

Motivation comes and goes.
What moves the needle is showing up anyway — body and mind.

Consistency > everything else.

The road to honoring big goals is built on a lot of tiny decisions.

This morning wasn’t easy.
4am came fast.
I didn’t sleep many hours.

But I thought about how I feel after a hot espresso.
After meditation.
After the pool.

That’s devotion over emotion.

Emotion will talk you out of it.
Devotion keeps you moving forward.

Luca is 14.
Second half marathon.
Another 10 minutes faster than last year.

Last year he ran ~8:16 miles.
This year? 7:30s.
Even better, he negative split the race.

We talked race strategy.
We practiced it on the course the week before.
He took the guidance and put it into action immediately.
Then he showed up for Celebration Day calm, present, and ready.

That’s the part most people skip.
Patience.
Pacing.
Fueling.
Mindset.
And yes… having fun doing hard things.

This is YogiTriathlete coaching.
Not just fitness, but how to show up.
How to stay present.
How to finish stronger than you start.

Proud of you, Luca.
The work always tells the truth. 🌊🏃‍♂️
