As might be expected the move from Austin, TX to Ojai, CA last month has brought forward some changes and opened up some areas for growth. Upon reflecting on it for a while, I have decided to close down Wholistic Foundations. What does that mean? It means that “vehicle” is being retired so that a new one may come forward to carry on the work, perhaps in a new and different way.

Right now I don’t know exactly what that “new way” will look like… in the meantime, I will continue to offer intuitive healing, wellbeing guidance and spiritual counseling in person, by phone and Skype for anyone interested in working together. If you would like to stay in touch or to connect for a session, feel free to send me an email at kehollis@gmail.com or message me through my personal page. I will send out updates through Facebook (and likely email) as the new era unfolds.... (continued at the link below).

Inner Sanctuary

The concept of “the heart” might well be analyzed here. It refers to the deepest psychological ground of one’s personality, the inner sanctuary where self-awareness goes beyond analytical reflection and opens out into metaphysical and theological confrontation with the Abyss of the unknown yet present—one who is “more intimate to us than we are to ourselves.”13

BEAUTY IN MOTION:

Odissi Dance is one of the ancient classical forms of dance in India. Traditionally dance was not a form of entertainment; rather dance was an offering to the Divine (often in temples). There are many ancient stories depicting great teachings; these stories are the subject of many dances in Indian Classical Dance The dances often portray aspects of different deities through the hand gestures and body movements. The deities are reflections of Divine qualities and energies such as Compassion, Love, Peace, Humility, Loyalty, etc.

Below is a video of one of the masters of Odissi Dance, guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. Such grace, such fluidity, such devotion to the art of dance.

During the winter months, our bodies benefit from warm, nutritious bounty from the Earth. I am not an Ayurvedic specialist; yet I can provide you some basic insights for you to look more deeply into if you wish.

In Ayurveda, the three doshas (constitutions) are Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each season is governed by a particular dosha that is reflected in the qualities of the season. Vata is the dosha that is most prevalent in the fall and winter...it's qualities are space and ether. We can tend to become ungrounded, dry and brittle during the winter. This hearty, warming winter soup offers a bowlful of goodness from Mother Earth!

Kale
Carrots
Leeks
Daikon Radish
Kohlrabi
Celery
Black Beans
Fun gluten free pasta shapes!
Garlic
Cumin
Coriander
Himalaya Salt
Black pepper

For those who are not feeling the heaviness of Kapha, you may want to add a small dollop of sour cream or greek yogurt. Black pepper adds a bit of warming if your Pitta is not too aggravated or high. Fresh coriander (cilantro) is also a nice addition for flavor and to support digestion. Explore different veggies and spices that work well for your particular constitution.

This Immunity Soup recipe looks awesome. Easy to make-- well...if you like to slice and dice :)

Good to keep in mind building up the immune system over the holidays. We often tend to eat more sugar around this time of year- it's in so many "classic" dishes served up by family and friends (or ourselves!). Sugar supresses the immune system so it is important to counter balance sugar intake with healing and healthy foods. Better to limit it as much as possible; yet, if you indulge be sure to take care of your body by balancing and alkalizing with whole, organic foods.

A soup built on a monster white pepper broth. White pepper with jolts of ginger, and stabs of garlic - clear and strong topped with tofu, mushrooms, watermelon radish, and lots of green onions.

After a beautiful Christmas Eve Satsang, where "the Christ" was explored and celebrated in all its glory, through the body of Jesus and the Universal One, I came across this "ad" on YouTube... The message is a continuation of that dialogue...it is a message that is so very needed today. The message is...LOVE.

The first gift of Christmas was a simple gift given by a father to all his children, to us. He gave us His son, the Christ. He is the gift. This Christmas se...

Christ's Love is like the Sun...it shines equally on all. Wishing all beings much Love and Peace at this time that Christ's birth is celebrated around the world.

A time to share and to give; a time to surrender what no longer serves us; a time to celebrate and remember the Light that shines within each heart; and a time to pray for the upliftment of all beings, not just those most dear to us. Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.
