Our Story

Founder Bernadette King, a 30 year resident of Ojai and marketing professional with a gift for creative alchemy, created sugar scrubs for herself and her five sisters for Christmas of 2009. She shared this with her manicure / pedicurist, who began using it on clients.

The superior quality of the scrubs gained attention and Bernadette became inspired to launch Ojai Sugar: All Natural Body Scrubs at the Ojai Certified Farmers Market on Mother’s Day, May 9, 2010.

Their entire line is vegan friendly, cruelty "free" and chemical "free" zero toxins: parabens or sulfates. They prepare each product in small batches to guarantee the purity and efficacy of its treatment. Unique hand-poured blends of restorative plant based ingredients with therapeutic grade essential oils inspired by the beauty and diversity of Ojai and California.

The first three scents were Citrus, Sweet Lavender and Coffee. Her passion lies in helping others to find their unique beauty, using a creative process that nourishes our skin and stimulates our senses. Since 2010 they’ve been growing organically--word of mouth.
