The audience comes last.
In service to the audience, the audience wants the best thing. They don't get the best thing while you're trying to service them, they get the best thing while you're serving yourself. How many times have I stepped in the same mud hole over and over again wondering how did I get back here. When you're true to who you are, and the more you can trust yourself as an artist/person.
In my case I've made every decision that I've made.
From working in a different genre /field that I started in to finding new ways to improve my life, on to something else, every time.
Every time I do something different, something new, i'm always told not to do it, I'm always told that it's a terrible idea.... But I know it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, I know what I know,! and my job is to share what I know. That's all that I can do. I can't second guess myself,
As Steve Jobs famously said "the consumer does not know what they want until you make it"..... If you build it, they will come.

When you're drowning, you don't say. "I would be incredibly pleased if someone would have the foresight to notice me drowning and come in and save me"..... , you just scream.

As some of you already know, I had a meeting with Tom Coburn, the CEO of Waking Up . It was a very productive meeting and we are extremely grateful.
As a gift of recognition for the work that we are doing in the community, Waking Up and Sam Harris are offering free memberships for our participants at Connecting Through Rhythm. Send me a message if you would like the promo code.
The most important thing about starting any new practice that you HAVE TO DO IT. Just like you had to practice driving before you could drive a car.
We also talked about some possible future partnerships. If you have ever had problems with meditation or thinking that "I can't meditate". This is for you. They donate 10% of their yearly profit to nonprofit organizations.

There were so many years where I was walking this lonely line.

Too different for the friends I had, but not successful enough to be welcomed by the people I wanted to be around.

That’s the worst place to be.
That’s when you want someone to root for you.

That’s when you want support.
Not after you’ve already won.
Because once you’ve “made it,” everyone’s like,
“He’s amazing.”
“He’s so talented.”
“He’s always been this way.”

Cool.
That’s also when you need it the least.
So what actually happens is this: you become the only person rooting for you.

For a long time.
It’s not a standing ovation.
It’s not a crowd.
It’s one slow clap in a big empty auditorium.

And that clap is yours.
That image matters, because most people can’t do things alone.

They need noise.
They need approval.
They need proof before they move.
But the path of the exceptional person is an exception by definition.
Which means you’re not with everyone else.

And instead of fighting that, or feeling sorry for yourself, you need to recognize it as a signal.

If everyone was cheering you on early, you wouldn’t be on the right path.
You’d just be doing what everyone else is doing.

And that’s not where growth lives.

People cheer at the start of the race.
And they cheer at the finish line.

Neither is when you actually need it.

You have to master the middle.
The boring part.
The exhausting part.
The soul-crushing, nobody’s-watching part.

That’s where the work happens.
That’s where the winning happens...... On your own.

Every year around this time, everyone starts talking about New Year’s resolutions. Do better. Be better. Grind harder.
We’re not really into that.

At Connecting Through Rhythm, we care more about intentions than resolutions. Intentions come from the gut, not from guilt or pressure. They come from listening instead of forcing.

Life isn’t about stacking achievements or staying busy until you’re numb. It’s about doing things that actually mean something. Things that make you feel alive, connected, grounded in your body and in your people.

So here’s the real question.
What if you stopped performing who you think you’re supposed to be, and let yourself be who you actually are?

No filter. No pretending. No spiritual bypass. Just you, as you are, noticing what hits, what hurts, what matters.

When we do that, we start to see why we keep chasing things that never quite satisfy us. Why we keep ending up on the same dead-end roads. At the root of it all, we have to be honest about what we really care about. Otherwise we just keep mistaking distraction for purpose.

This is where the work gets real.

Ever wonder why cravings don’t stop, no matter how much awareness you bring to them?
Why the same destructive patterns keep showing up in your relationships, even after therapy, meetings, programs, promises?

That’s not a lack of willpower. That’s unmet attachment needs.

Coming up at Connecting Through Rhythm, we’re taking a deep dive into an evidence-informed approach to recovery that goes way beyond abstinence alone. We look at attachment theory, nervous system regulation, and how early relationships shaped how we cope today.

What happened back then still lives in the body now.
And it shows up as craving, emotional chaos, shutdown, relapse, isolation.

Addiction often becomes a stand-in for safe human connection. Not because people are broken, but because connection was never secure to begin with.

Through community, mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, drum circles, sound therapy, musical performance, music education, visual and performance arts, and peer support, we rebuild what was missing. We give the nervous system new experiences of safety,, expression, and belonging.

This is not about fixing yourself.
It’s about learning healthier ways to meet real needs.

We’ll explore how to sustain purpose without tying your worth to productivity or achievement. How to follow curiosity without turning everything into a performance. How to explore life without grinding the soul out of it.

Looking ahead to 2026, this work is about depth, not hustle.

After building a foundation in attachment theory and contemplative practices, we go deeper into skill development. Real, practical skills you can actually use in daily life.

We’re offering an immersive 6-month deep dive into attachment repair and integration. This is about earning secure attachment through lived experience, not just understanding it intellectually.

We focus on: • Understanding your specific attachment conditioning and how repair looks different for each pattern
+ Learning the techniques that actually apply to you, not generic advice
+ Mentalizing skills, so you can track interactions, reduce conflict, and feel less misunderstood
+ Learning how to collaborate with people without burning out, blowing up, or disappearing
+ Building reciprocal, supportive relationships so your energy can go where it belongs, toward your own authentic exploration

This work is slow, embodied, and honest.
It happens in circles. In silence. In rhythm. In breath. In sound. In art. In community.

No hype. No shortcuts. Just real humans doing real work together.

If you’re tired of pretending you’re fine, and ready to build something solid from the inside out, you’re in the right place..... Get on the email list to be updated. Thank you, this is your best year ever.
