On October 30th COBA held our Fall 2025 Workshop featuring Melissa Cole. We were thrilled to host Melissa with attendees gaining valuable information on oral function and assessments, differential diagnoses, tongue and lip ties, milk production and herbal galactagogues, ending with great discussion on critical thinking skills and communication. Here are some photos from the event.

Indigenous Peoples' Day is a day set aside to celebrate the deep and rich heritage of Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian people, as well as to acknowledge the ancestral wisdom and continuing contributions of those who were the first to both inhabit and steward this land we now call America.

Human milk feeding has, historically, held a significant place in every culture; Mothers breastfeeding their children is not only a biological norm, but also an ancestral practice used to nourish, develop connection, and pass down knowledge. At the USBC, we believe that by providing a platform for Indigenous health organizations to discuss challenges and opportunities, we can help build healthier families and reduce disparities in breastfeeding rates.

COBA and Ocarta are proud to announce a new partnership to expand lactation support for mothers in recovery.

With funding from the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s Choosing Childbirth Grant, COBA helped OCARTA establish dedicated lactation rooms at their Oklahoma City facility and two sober living homes, each equipped with a hospital-grade breast pump and comfortable seating.

COBA also provided supplies for unhoused outreach and collaborated with OCARTA to develop a lactation policy offering evidence-based guidance for mothers navigating recovery.

Together, we’re working to remove barriers and support the health and well-being of Oklahoma families.

Today marks the start of the first ever Deaf & Hard of Hearing Breastfeeding Week! As an allied partner with the Deaf community, the DC Breastfeeding Coalition fostered the initiation of the first-ever Deaf and Hard of Hearing Breastfeeding Collective. The theme for this first-of-its-kind observance is "Close the Gap Bridge the Divide: Establish Breastfeeding Support Access."

The purpose of this initiative is to provide the nation's marginalized and underrepresented Deaf community with accessible breastfeeding education, support, and community, because language and breastfeeding access matters from birth! Follow Deaf & Hard of Hearing Breastfeeding to keep up with the observance's activities.
