Free Market Medical Association

Free Market Medical Association Our Goal is to bring together buyers and sellers of healthcare good and services - while reducing costs and increasing quality. Cash is cash.

ABOUT THE FMMA
The FMMA is a non-partisan association that provides resources, support, and education to our members, and to the public, about the free market movement and why it is so important. We help to defend and expand the practice of free market medicine against the interference and intrusion of the government or other third parties. PILLARS OF THE FREE MARKET
Due to the wildly varying definitions of transparency and free market in this industry, many of which are neither free market or transparent, the FMMA has designated these pillars as the foundation of the Association. Our members are asked to always abide by these pillars; using ethics and transparency in all areas of their businesses. The Free Market works when there is freedom of choice. Price - PRICE is NOT a product, the CARE is the product. Selling access to pricing is anti-free market

Value - VALUE is established when the buyer and seller agree on a mutually beneficial price for care. Equality - Price EQUALITY is the basis of a free market. Any willing buyer should be offered the same price regardless of any factor. Go to fmma.org to learn more about the benefits of becoming a member!

Who helps free-market healthcare function smoothly?

In a transparent healthcare marketplace, patients and employers connect directly with providers. But there are also organizations that support that connection without distorting it.

We call them good-faith facilitators.

These include Third-Party Administrators, health share organizations, and cost-sharing ministries that operate with aligned incentives and transparent practices. Their role is not to control pricing or restrict access, but to help coordinate care and simplify administration.

When incentives align, transparency thrives.

When leaders gather around a shared mission, real change happens.

In Nebraska, that mission is simple: healthcare that is transparent, competitive, and accountable.

The FMMA Nebraska chapter meeting last night was a strong reminder that momentum is building and that leaders across the country are committed to improving how healthcare is delivered. Thanks to all the compassionate, transparent providers who showed up to learn how we can effect change!

"This is a call for courage."

FMMA Executive Director Matt Ohrt sat down with Chris Habig of the Healthcare Americana podcast to talk about our mission: equipping transparent, market-driven providers with the tools, connections, and advocacy they need to reshape American healthcare. They discuss how price transparency, direct primary care, and employer-driven health plans can lower costs and improve access to quality care.

Thanks to Chris and Healthcare Americana, the official podcast of the FMMA, for this great conversation!

“Healthcare doesn’t have to be different.”

When Free Market Medical Association Executive Director Matt Ohrt talks with CEOs, the reaction is almost always the same: "This is exactly what we’ve been looking for."

The idea is simple. Buy healthcare the way you buy everything else. Shop for value. Know the price. Expect quality.

When we stop treating healthcare like an exception and start applying the same common-sense rules that govern every other market, the confusion fades, and progress follows.

That’s how real change happens, one intuitive truth shared at a time.

🎥 Watch the clip and help spread the message.

The healthcare status quo isn’t confusing by accident.
It’s designed that way.

Patients are asked to make life-altering decisions without knowing prices. Employers are told rising costs are inevitable. “Discounts” are built on inflated numbers. Choice is limited to networks that benefit everyone except the patient.

This is not a market failure.
It’s the absence of a real market.

The Free Market Medical Association exists to restore what healthcare lost:
clear prices, direct relationships, accountability, and freedom of choice.

When patients can see prices, compare value, and choose their care, costs fall and quality rises. That’s not theory. It’s already happening.

Out-of-control healthcare costs aren’t a mystery. They’re the result of a system that hides prices and blocks competition.

In this incredible investigative series from Stand Together, a Stanford economist breaks down what actually drives costs in American healthcare. The conclusion lines up with what FMMA leaders have been saying for years: transparency, competition, and real market forces matter.

Of course, they also spoke with FMMA Co-Founder Dr. Keith Smith for the longer documentary.

Watch the piece. And let’s keep pushing the conversation where it belongs.
