KVC Kansas

KVC Kansas At KVC Kansas, we work to strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect.

KVC provides family strengthening services, foster care case management, foster family recruitment/support, adoption, outpatient mental and behavioral healthcare and much more. Our vision is a world in which every person is safe and connected to a strong family and a healthy community. At KVC, we know "children can’t wait," and we've helped Kansas achieve national leadership in child welfare standards set by the federal Children and Family Service review; outcomes that ensure child safety, permanency and wellbeing.

Welcoming someone new into your home takes patience, flexibility and heart.

It’s okay if it feels new. It’s okay if it feels stretching.
Trust is built one steady day at a time. 💛

Just over here appreciating the humans who make this work possible!

Compassion isn’t just a buzzword around here, it’s what our team lives out daily. Proud is an understatement.

Safe reunification is always our number one goal. 💗

This week, we’re sharing our team members’ experience with authenticity in the workplace. Matt, Director of Outpatient Services, tells us a bit about what it’s like to bring your whole self to work at KVC.

“In addition to being a clinician, I'm a musician and they've given me the opportunity to work with the drumline, with the Kansas City Chiefs and teach at high schools around the area. And that really makes me feel like KVC supports who I am beyond just the role that I play here as a clinician and as a leader. And that's really unique. I think in our field that people at the agency really care about me and my entire self.”

In foster care, small acts of kindness matter more than we can measure.

A packed lunch, a ride to practice, even a bedtime story. They may seem small, but to a child or teen, they mean everything. 💛

Kindness is so much more than one day, it's a lifelong commitment to caring.

How foster parents can support a child’s cultural identity.

You’re not expected to have all the answers. What matters most is your willingness to listen, learn and make space for a child to be fully themselves! When foster parents honor cultural identity, through everyday choices and curiosity, children and teens are more likely to feel safe and connected.

It’s not about getting it perfect, but it is about showing up with care, humility and an open heart. 💚

February is Black History Month — a time to honor culture, identity and belonging. For many Black youth, having access to textured hair care products isn’t just about hygiene. It’s about dignity and feeling seen.

This month, we’re collecting essentials like shampoo, curl revitalizer and leave-in conditioner. These items may seem simple, but to the youth we serve, they represent respect, identity and love. 💛
