Cacao ceremonies are not new, people in south and central America, especially the Aztec and Mayan cultures, have been initiating, enjoying and sharing cacao ceremonies for thousands of years. Archaeological evidence of cacao’s use dates all the way back 3,900 years ago in Central America, and recent genetic evidence dates cacao’s use to 5,300 years ago in the Amazon Rainforest.
Traditionally speaking, these ceremonies were to help communities unite, connect, share and also seed positive intentions and manifestations for the coming natural cycles, to assist in boosting the production of healthy crops and abundance in all forms. Above all, cacao was used for spiritual, medicinal and ceremonial purposes for inner awakening and creative pursuits.
During the sacred Cacao Ceremony, as the sweet chocolatey aroma of ceremonial-grade cacao fills the air, we embark on a collective journey. Together, we sip or sample this sacred elixir, opening our hearts to one another and to the transformative energy that envelops us through meditation. The ceremony becomes a shared experience, where the opportunity for laughter, tears, and moments of introspection intermingle, creating a tapestry of emotions that unites us all.
As the cacao takes its effect, we experience a gentle and pure awakening of our emotions and senses. It allows us to reconnect and bond with our inner selves, to let go of walls we may have built, and to embrace a safe space and vulnerability, in the company of newfound friends. This ceremony creates an environment where shared vulnerability, strengthens the bonds of sisterhood and community-fostering a safe space where authenticity and acceptance reign supreme.
