Couldn’t make it to the Health Autonomy Convergence in NC? Here’s your chance to attend one of the workshops online for free! Spread far and wide! Happening this Thursday 1-2:30pm PST!

In this workshop we will explore injury, illness and health loss as grief events, experiences of liminality, and initiation into a new reality. We’ll talk about the challenges of existing in a dominant societal structure that does not prepare us, hold us or value us.

In this ‘cure’ oriented society where the emphasis is on perfection, always being young, achieving complete recovery and being an inspiration through overcoming, we will explore the journey of enduring and existing outside of that framework.

The shame, othering, neglect and desexualization of people who do not fit into the perceived able-bodied and ‘normal’ cognition standard for being of value to capitalism will be interrogated.

Ultimately, we’ll explore experiences of health loss within the context of the rite passage framework. In injury we cross a threshold, leaving what we know behind and stepping into an unknown journey, how can we bring witness and community support to the inevitable journey of injury, health loss, and aging? What does that look like in a world where disposability and oversimplification sweep complex problems under the rug? This workshop will be part presentation and part discussion bringing the wisdom and lived experience of the group into the conversation.

Writing a title for your dream can be incredibly helpful for remembering your dreams individually after you’ve written them down.

Pattern tracking within your dreams can help you notice common themes whether they’re emotional, physical sensations, dynamics, scenery, objects or people. Just the act of noticing patterns will help you develop a deeper understanding of how your dreaming bodymind processes and communicates with you. You may find yourself noticing more around similar objects, people, sensations, etc in waking life that allow meaning to unfold.

As with any dream study tip, find your own way to incorporate the reflection and practice. It’s important that you feel connected to how you work with your dreams.

It’s never too late to register to join our dream group! For more details on all programs check the bio!

Text reads: start tracking patterns in your dreams. Landscapes, characters, emotions, common occurrences. Start a page for tracking repeated symbols, themes and events. Next to instances, put the title of the dream.

I’ll share more soon about this meditative and potent offering.

This week held a moving opening ceremony of the monthly online art studio space remembering and honoring the vibrant, dear flame who was deeply committed to accessible community art and grief space. You continue to teach me even in death - playful, witty, brilliant and fierce.

Mythopoetics is the study of myths, stories, and symbols that shape our worldview, values, and beliefs. It looks at the intersection of culture, psyche, and imagination, and how these elements play a significant role in shaping our personal and collective identities. Mythopoetics can be manipulated and are susceptible to societal influences and oppressive forces. That is why we must take a strong stance and consciousness around how stories are being written within our smaller and larger communities and the stories and myths influencing our behavior.

How can we carry mythopoetics into our day to day in a healing and liberating way? Each of us have stories and lore in our lineage whether they are known or conscious to us. To be alive today and strive to be healthy, we must look at who is gaining the monopoly on storytelling and myth and where the platforms for spreading them exist.

A healthy mythopoetics should hold and guide you, enrich your life, create a sense of purpose, meaning, connectivity, and build paths to belonging in this world. Some qualities of a healthy mythopoetics include:

-intentionality
-earth-based
-place-based
-culturally specific
-cross-cultural
-values & ethics
-complexity
-path showing
-adaptable
-reflects our biological truths
-reaches into the unseen
-arc
-mentorship

Mythopoetics is essential to healing trauma and grief because it allows us to connect with the stories and symbols that help us make sense of our experiences. When we experience trauma, we may lose our sense of meaning and purpose. Mythopoetics can provide us with a new framework for understanding our experiences, giving us a way to reconnect with ourselves and the world around us.

Mythopoetics can help us navigate the complexities of life, providing us with a language for expressing our emotions and experiences. It can give us a new lens through which to view the world, providing us with a sense of empowerment and agency.

Moving forward, we'll explore different facets of mythopoetics and how it can be used to promote healing, growth, and transformation. I'll provide articles and resources for you to explore further on your own.

Last time, we talked about the emotional tones and experiences in your dreams. This round we’re focusing on the importance of beginning to record them whether in writing or a voice recording first thing when you wake up. Often times if you can record them sooner than later, you will hold onto more details and have more to work with.

If you’re just starting or rejuvenating your dream practice, it may sound basic or obvious to encourage you to record them, because it is. Just because we know something, doesn’t mean we practice it. Studying dreams with others can help build in self-accountability and cue deeper parts of ourselves about the value, enjoyment, play, meaning and connection that can come from recording and discussing our dreams.

If this sounds nourishing or curious to you, I’d love for you to join us! Just follow the link in my bio to register by making a one-time or monthly donation of any amount!

Sweet dreams 💫🪐✨🌸
