It’s time for Root MEDICINE! Join us on the farm for a full day of digging up our medicinal plants, making medicine and taking home rootlets for your garden! We will work with elecampagne, horseradish, marshmallow, valerian, and more! We will make fire cider, oxymiels, and maybe some spicy horseradish dip to take home!
This is a community event open to all, BIPOC centered! Bring muddy rain and garden clothes, a potluck dish and a water bottle!
We pull up our roots and divide them into 3, one to make medicine with, one to put back in the garden, and one to pot up for community. We’ll also take this time to give offerings to the soil, and reflect on our own root work of late fall!
Please let us know if you will join us, and bring loved ones and littles! There will be jobs for all ages and abilities!

Canoe journey 2025 Paddle to Elwha: Our Crew!

Our crew is everything! Our crew is showing up with so much love and dedication! To late night meetings, early morning greeting the canoes, crazy scouting missions, long days of care. Not to mention the endless work of keeping a community fed and sheltered, the never ending ebb and flow dishes and tent setting up and baby wrangling and loading and unloading. Our crew is magic and full of characters; of fits of delusional giggles, side missions, pranks, of bringing your chickens AND puppies AND cats cuz they are part of the family too. Our crew is intergenerational, it's abuelas and moms and babies and all different life phases and cultures and needs and somehow we navigate what can be really stressfull constant waves of change with communication and group grounding and ceremony and lots of jokes... thank you to everyone (not everyone pictured) who makes up this incredible crew! Thank you for offering your love, labor, your medicine to us and all our relatives on journey this year!

Canoe journey 2025 Paddle to Elwha: 🌱Our Care Space!🌱 we have been developing this idea of our mobile community care space over the last 7 years on canoe journey and it has evolved from one pop up and hand mixing salves to a fleet of pop ups, private and community care spaces, 20 person acudetox circles, and an amazing and skilled community of people who make it happen every night.
Every night we do care on journey we have about 20 volunteers, all offering different gifts and trainings, and set up care a care space for 4-6 hours where people on canoe journey can come receive medicine, healing and treatments, as well as yummy teas and time to connect with relatives in a reading setting. We have a greeters and give out tent, offer herbal footbaths and acu-wellness in our community care circle, a first aid tent, a healers tent for acupuncture/massage and traditional healing, and a smudge bundle station. Did you visit our care space this year?

Canoe journey Paddle to Elwha 2025: Our Youth!
We are so lucky to be able to travel with our families on canoe journey. To have our kids be apart of culture, protocol, community and be cared for by alllllll the aunties/tias/zizis.... and they bring us so much silliness and joy on journey, slowing down between busy days, sitting on the ground, getting curious. Thank you to our adventurous, mischievous and wise babes for cracking our hearts open over and over again!

We did it! The last couple weeks have been a push but we are packed and loaded for canoe journey! Thanks to everyone who shopped, loaded vehicles in the heat, did ceremony to prepare with us, watched children, made late night meals, last minute medicine, bagged tea at work , brought treats, got delirious, reorganized the fridge, deciphered 3 page long lists, brought their spouses to help, harvested from the gardens even though there was so much else to do cuz the plants don't wait for us to bloom, swept the apothecary for the millionth time. Thank you thank you thank you, we are leaving for this years journey connected, organized and strong and we are truly greatful to all the hands (most not pictured cuz we were so busy) that make this happen! See you on canoe journey!
