For those trick or treating tonight, keep a couple of safety tips in mind:

• Stay on well lit streets and on sidewalks
• Cross the street only at designated crosswalks
• Look both ways before crossing the street
• Adults should accompany children
• Make sure your costume is visible - add reflective tape or carry a flashlight while out trick or treating

It is going to be raining. Please be safe out there!

The Great ShakeOut is the world’s largest Earthquake drill! Today, October 16th at 10:16 a.m., participants all over the world use this opportunity to practice what they would do in case an earthquake occurred suddenly: Drop, Cover, and Hold On!

Washington is earthquake and tsunami country – either of these hazards could strike at any time. The Great ShakeOut is the perfect annual opportunity to learn about these hazards, practice how to protect yourself from earthquake and tsunamis, and take action to get prepared for disasters, so they won’t impact you as much when they occur. When you join everyone else in Washington and around the world participating, it can even be fun

We are getting questions about the smoky conditions around the area as it continues to worsen this afternoon. The Bear Gulch Fire experienced intensified activity today along with a strong northwest wind that is pushing smoke into the area.

An Air Quality Alert has been issued by the National Weather Service for Mason and Thurston counties through midnight Saturday night due to current wildfire smoke from the Bear Gulch Fire. Particulate matter (PM2.5) levels are at Unhealthy levels.

When air quality is Unhealthy, everyone should reduce exposure: Limit time outside, avoid
strenuous outdoor activity, and follow tips for cleaner indoor air.

As always, if you see visible flames or have an emergency, please call 911.
