Oowee let me Laughastè!! Social workers licensed clinical are known this is for social workers in totality!! LoL please watch til the end!

I personally have an incredibly insightful way to frame the profession of SW and LCSW. And Im providing this information with the hope that you adapt this perspective as well.
Viewing the intensity of social work as eustress (positive stress) is a powerful mindset shift it acknowledges that the pressure comes from a place of purpose and passion rather than just burden.

However, because eustress still taxes the nervous system, it can slide into distress or burnout if the “recovery” doesn’t match the “output.”…

So as a Certified Somatic Laughter Consultant, I address the “physiological debt” that social workers often accumulate. Because your work is so emotionally heavy, laughter serves as a critical biological tool to prevent secondary traumatic stress (STS) from turning into permanent burnout.

this is something I highly recommend for you to do daily, being that you work in a high demanding environment.

It’s About Consistency, Not Intensity… Lasting regulation is built through small, daily habits, rather than one-off, intense efforts.

👉🏿The Goal is Capacity, Not Just Calm: A healthy nervous system isn’t just perpetually calm; it is flexible and resilient, allowing you to ride the wave of stress and return to balance afterward.

👉🏿 Rewiring Takes Repetition: The nervous system learns through repetition. Every time you consciously engage a calming technique, you are reinforcing a new neural pathway.

After a long day… Oowee, let me Laughastè because sleep is a Somatic Skill, Not Just a Schedule. 🛌🧬

The Reality:
To my ECE, teachers, and caregivers: You can’t ‘think’ your way into a deep sleep when your Nervous System is still on high alert. If you’re laying in bed ruminating, you aren’t tired you’re unregulated.

Try this quick nighttime Somatic Flow:

I’m using these two of the Laughastè 21 asanas to trigger an immediate Nervous System Regulation before my head hits the pillow:

1️⃣ number 4 Earth Hug Laugh: A deep Somatic grounding move. By folding and laughing into the earth, I’m physically completing the stress cycle and releasing the energy I absorbed from others today.

2️⃣ number 5 Laughing Child Pose: This is Laughastè in its purest form. It stimulates the Vagus Nerve to shut down the ‘fight-or-flight’ response and tells your body it is safe to surrender to rest.

The Result:
When you provide your body with the right Somatic Infrastructure, you don’t just ‘pass out’ you actually recover. 🧬💤

And all stress is not bad stress… But your body doesn’t know that.

The Science of the Anchor:

In psychology, anchoring is the process of associating a specific cue (like a word or sound) with a desired emotional state. When I say 'Oowee,'
I'm using 'Affect Labeling' a technique that research shows can actually pump the brakes on the brain's alarm center (the amygdala) while activating the logical, calm part of the brain (the prefrontal cortex). Oowee hahaha that's a lot huh!?

Why this works for you: Oowee
Interrupts the Stress Cycle: Naming your intention to "Laughastè" breaks the loop of high-alert thinking.

Signals Safety: By pairing the verbal cue with intentional laughter, you train your nervous system to recognize "Oowee" as the green light for Ventral Vagal safety.

The Reality:
To my Caregivers, ECE, & my LCSW family… Who lay awake replay-ing classroom moments or case files:
Your brain is still in “survival mode.”
You can’t think your way into a deep sleep! But you can laugh your way there.

The Science of the Lotus Laugh: Nighttime edition

Sitting tall in bed and engaging in a deep, belly laugh, physically massaging your internal organs and triggering a massive release of serotonin and melatonin precursors. 🧬🧘🏿‍♀️

The Results:
1️⃣ Lowers Cortisol: Flushes the leftover “work day” hormones.

2️⃣ Vagal Toning: Slows your heart rate and deepens your breath.

3️⃣ Inner Child Safety: It tells your system: The work is done. You are safe. You can let go now.

Laughastè before bed:
Try a 60-second belly laugh in the lotus position before you close your eyes tonight. Don’t worry about “sounding” right ( You can’t mess up laughter) just feel the vibration in your gut.
