National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) did a study that showed 64% of people with mental illness report that holidays make their challenges worse. Holidays can bring stress, anxious feelings, or loneliness. To combat these things and strive for good mental health through this season, try some of these tips:

⏰ Manage your time. Keeping plans lighter this time of year could give you less expectations to meet when stress rises. Find the happy medium where you can see your circle but not be overwhelmed by tasks.

❌ Set Boundaries. Families can be unpredictable, and gatherings may leave you feeling defeated. Setting boundaries gives the control back to you and how you react. Limit your time if you need to.

🚶‍♀️ Exercise Daily. With cold weather coming, it may be hard to exercise outside. If getting a gym membership isn’t accessible to you, try walking around big indoor facilities like a mall or do an at home workout on Youtube.

🫂 Find Support. This could be a therapist, a family member, or close friend. It’s great to have someone to confide in when you’re not feeling your best.

There are many more ways you can prioritize your mental health through the holiday season. Comment any others you’re thinking of!
