One thing I struggle with as a cat owner of senior kitties is getting them to not snub their wet food. One of the first senses to wane is their sense of smell which is a very important for cats as it helps them understand the world around them. If something doesn't smell enticing, they won't consider it edible.
When it comes to wet food in the fridge and eating it cold, it most likely won't smell good to them. I have found a fresh opened can works most often for some of my cats than using the refrigerated ones, but that can be a lot of waste adding up so what do we do?
> We can try adding warm water to mix in with the wet food, more hydration won't hurt.
> We can try heating it up in the microwave for 10 seconds at a time.
> When pulling it out of the fridge, we can have it sit in warm water like we do when defrosting meat to warm it up gradually.
Give those ideas a try and see if your senior kitty eats more and snubs less!
