Wow it’s been a while! Today I am going to post about some thing that now, firsthand I get to experience the benefits of...PRENATAL MASSAGE!!!!
I have always loved giving prenatal massage to my clients. They always look so comfortable and relaxed, lying on their side head on a soft pillow surrounded by more pillows and the warmth of the cozy fleece table warmer and blankets. It is physically obvious that women’s bodies change during pregnancy. What is not obvious and should be known is that for some women it can get pretty uncomfortable and painful. Extremities swell and ache...temporary facial paralysis from tightness in the neck and shoulders due to everything shifting is common and very unpleasant. Out of the blue women can develop Bells Palsy (this is neat) it’s temporary but not fun...constipation for days, pinched sciatic nerve so bad it hurts to walk...waking up in the morning with hands and fingers burning and numb from carpal tunnel syndrome, and most nights only getting 3-4 hours of sleep because between raging hormones keeping them up ALL night and having to relieve the bladder 3 times, sleep deprivation is also the new norm.
Prenatal massage can help with ALL of these symptoms. By relaxing the muscles of the body we free the nerves from impingement, improve circulation and increase metabolism helping with constipation and swelling. During massage our bodies release endorphins also known as our “feel good” hormones to aid in both physical and psychological relief.
If you or someone you know is expecting, don’t wait, go get a massage and give your body the relaxation and pain relief it needs!
