Too young for traditional myo? Start this at home!

Hi, my name is Emilee and I am a myofunctional therapist and mom of 2 boys, ages 3 and 1. One of the most common questions that I get asked is,

“What can I do for my kids under age 4?”

There aren’t a lot of people who work with this age, so I decided that I would share some things that I do with my own kids!

Share with your friends, an follow along for more tips!

✨Popsicle stick breathing✨

1️⃣ Have your child hold a Popsicle stick between relaxed lips. They should not be biting it.
2️⃣ Find a quiet activity like reading, or playing with blocks or toys.
3️⃣ Have them hold the popsicle stick while they are playing for as long as they will. (We’re going for fun, not stressful!)
4️⃣ Practice as often as you like.

Make it fun!

✨Set a timer and have them compete with themselves on how long they can hold it.
✨Do it with them!
✨Get everyone involved and make it a whole family competition.

Share with your friends and follow along for more myo tips and tricks!

Recurrent ear infections may not be an ear problem!👂

Do your kids/did you get recurrent ear infections? (Poll at the bottom)

If the tongue isn’t working like it is supposed to, or it’s tied to the floor of the mouth, it won’t be able to reach up and drain the eustacian tubes with each swallow.

✨ Less drainage = more fluid = more infections ✨

Most families are never told about this connection, or how fixing it could save you a lot of problems now and in the future.

If this made you say “why have I never heard this?” save and share so that more parents can learn!

Your tongue, lips, and breathing patterns are shaping your health every single day — whether you’re aware of it or not.

These are a few foundational myofunctional therapy habits you can start working on right now at home. They are simple, but when done correctly and consistently, they can change the way the entire airway system functions.

If you’ve ever struggled with mouth breathing, jaw tension, orthodontic relapse, tongue tie, or poor sleep… this is often the missing piece.

The best time to fix a problem is always now. ❤️

If you are ready to jump right in and start making a difference in your life or the life of your kids, comment “MYO” and I’ll send you more information on how to get started.

If you aren’t ready to jump into therapy yet, you can start at home. Try out a nasal dilator or neti pot before bed to make nasal breathing easier. Work on tongue posture and lip seal throughout the day as long as you don’t have pain or discomfort.

Small steps started today will make things easier in the future. When you are ready to jump into therapy, I’ll be here ready to help!
