This is not just a response to a shortage. It raises ethical concerns. When students pay for required clinical education, we risk compromising educational quality, creating conflicts in evaluation, and limiting access for those who cannot afford added costs.
Clinical training is the foundation of safe care. It should not be treated as a transaction.
As a profession, we need to act. This includes transparency in program costs, investment in preceptor support, and a commitment to preceptorship as a professional responsibility.
Our students, our profession, and our patients depend on it.
