Well this has arguably been the most difficult secret to keep the last few months, but the Malcolm crew is adding a new addition to the family this July! 💕⁣⁣
⁣⁣
To say we are in love is the biggest understatement of my life & we can’t wait to bring this little bundle of joy home. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
To my wonderful clients that I’ve come to know as my friends, know that I care very much about all of you and have not forgotten about you during this special time. While I may be stepping away from resin at this moment, I would be happy to refer any of you to other incredibly talented artists that can help preserve your wonderful memories. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This art will always hold a special place in my heart and eventually I will return back to it. But, for now I must listen to my body and enjoy every bit of these special moments while they last because I know they will absolutely fly by. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We can’t wait to share this journey with you all & start this new chapter together as parents. 💕⁣⁣
⁣⁣
P.S. The background in the photo may be blue but we do not know the gender as of yet. 😂

Syncing 27 photos of your work is an immediate growth check. ☆⁣

Imposter syndrome is a real thing in the art world. It’s easy to fall trap to the narrative of comparing your work and ability to that of others.⁣

But it’s important to remember that comparison is the thief of joy and that your day 1 is not going to be at the same level as someone’s day 1,000. ⁣

Stay humble and remember that everyone starts somewhere in whatever journey they are dealing with and that progress takes time when you are trying to get somewhere new.⁣

I was humbled in seeing this reel - not only because it is a testament to all of the beautiful clients that have trusted me with such sentimental pieces. But also because it shows how far I have come as an artist in chasing after a goal that I wanted to achieve. ⁣

Anything is possible if you set your intentions forward and keep working towards your goal under any and all circumstances.⁣

Thanks for the love as always family - you guys make this journey a fun one to experience.

Memories mean different things to different people. ☆⁣

When I was asked to preserve memorial flowers, my mind immediately went to thinking about the shape of the piece I wanted to make.⁣

I wanted something that would highlight the flowers (I only had a handful to work with) and would give me the chance to add layers of a story to the piece.⁣

When my client told me that her loved one was a huge fan of the beach, I immediately knew a pyramid design would be the way to go. We incorporated sea shells at the bottom to add this special touch in their memory.⁣

I’ve said many times before that flowers hold memories. But those memories are different for each of us which makes my role so special because the pieces I make are different for each of us.⁣

Whatever you choose to do with your flowers, I hope you make something really special with them that pays tribute to the memories of your past. They were part of a big moment of your life so why not make them part of your life for the future?⁣

All the best family. Thanks for sharing, caring, and supporting as always. ❤️

I’m ready for my closeup! ☆⁣

Let’s talk about product photography! 🤗⁣

I’m not sure who else feels this way but product photography is something that I’ve had to learn along the way in my resin journey because it can be a struggle sometimes. I’m definitely not an expert but I have learned a few things that I figured I would share in case someone may be trying to figure it out too. ⁣

See below for my “principles” of product photography. These are just my tips that work for me so if you do things differently, feel free to share below so we can all learn from each other!⁣

1) Camera type can make a difference but isn’t essential. ⁣
- If you are starting out you may see different opinions on this. But cell phone technology has come a long way so don’t feel like you have to invest a bunch of money to get a good quality photo.

2) Download a photo editor app of some kind to bring your photos to life. ⁣
- Even if you use a good quality camera, lighting can still cause a photo to look dull when you initially take it. That is why I edit all of my photos post production to bring as much detail out of them as possible. You worked hard on your pieces so the last thing you want to do is sell your work short by missing the detail in the photo! ⁣

3) When editing your photo, try to keep it as natural as possible.⁣
- Apps are great for editing but be cautious not to overwork the photo. It is pretty evident when a photo has been manipulated to the point where it is questionable if that is how it actually looks. 😅 Try to keep it simple and true to what your piece looks like in real life.⁣

4) A simple and clean background always delivers. ⁣
- So depending on what you are shooting this statement may have different opinions. What works for me is that I like to have my work speak for itself and try to limit what I fill the space with so that it is the main star of the photo. ⁣

5) Lighting matters. ⁣
- Lighting helps bring your picture to life! Whether you have to take your photos outside or whether you use a light box lighting will be your best friend. You may have to play around with it a bit when shooting your pieces but the right lighting makes a difference in a photo.⁣

I hope this helps someone out there!

A layered cube is always a show stopper! ☆⁣

When I am working on a commission, my main goal is to use as much of the original bouquet as I can.⁣

When my bride had a ton of hydrangeas leftover from her bouquet I suggested creating a tiered cube like this and I am thrilled with the result.⁣

You don’t have to throw away your flowers after your big day! Even if it’s a handful of filler flowers, we can use them to create really special pieces for you to hold onto.⁣

Have the best day today family!

I still remember. ❤️⁣

It is hard to process that 20 years has passed since this day. I still remember it like it was yesterday.⁣

Our world changed and stood still on this morning.⁣

While 20 years may have passed, we will never forget those that were lost to this tragedy.

Don’t forget about the Groom! ☆⁣

A person’s wedding day is often one of the biggest moments of their lives. There’s typically a lot of planning that goes into the big day and when it arrives, a huge amount of focus is on the Bride.⁣

The dress. ⁣

The hair. ⁣

The jewelry. ⁣

The bouquet. ⁣

But, Groom’s deserve to have a moment in the spotlight too! Even though a Groom’s look isn’t as extravagant as a bridal look, the boutonnière is their moment in the spotlight. ⁣

That’s why when my Bride asked if I could save her husband’s boutonnière, I was obsessed with the idea! From the outside looking in, it may seem just like a simple flower that was pinned on a jacket or shirt.⁣

But to the Groom, that flower was pinned by a parent. Or a best friend. Or maybe even the person they are marrying if they are getting eloped (which - we are here for this)!⁣

It may seem little in nature but the boutonnière is just as impactful as the main bouquet or surrounding floral arrangements. That simple flower arrangement holds meaning and memories and that is truly a special thing to save. ⁣

Have the best day today family. Thanks for sharing, caring, and supporting as always.

There were a lot of firsts for this piece. ❤️⁣

First memorial piece. ⁣

First beach scene piece.⁣

First pyramid design. ⁣

I wanted to honor the moment when I de-molded this piece yesterday and chose Remember Me from Coco for this audio.⁣

The night before my father in law passed, I watched Coco for the first time and this song has stuck with me ever since that evening. Making this piece was therapy for me in a lot of ways & a humbling reminder that loved ones are never really gone and live on within us always.⁣

To my beautiful client, thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me creatively with this.

Five years ago we had our last first date. ❤️⁣

It’s crazy to think how quickly the time has gone. I remember that night so vividly and remember how much I couldn’t stop smiling after our date had finished.⁣

And every day since then I have continued to keep smiling and have continued to love you more than the day before.⁣

You are my greatest adventure and my best friend in life and I am so blessed that five years ago we split fried pickles and beer together. ⁣

Thanks for loving me the way you do and here’s to many more years ahead.
