🌟 Celebrating 4 Years of Kristina at VRA! 🌟
(We may be a little late, but the gratitude is right on time.)

Please help us celebrate Kristina’s 4-year anniversary with the Volusia Recovery Alliance, celebrated on October 3rd. Kristina has been an essential part of our team, and her impact reaches far beyond the workday.

Kristina was instrumental in getting the Freedom to Change program started in the women’s jail, helping create a space for healing, empowerment, and new opportunities. Her participants absolutely love her, and many have even gone on to take peer support trainings and become Certified Recovery Peer Specialists themselves, inspired by her leadership.

She has facilitated numerous Recovery Coach Trainings and WRAP trainings, helping grow and strengthen the peer workforce across our community.

Kristina is also deeply passionate about risk reduction, always making sure people have lifesaving tools like Narcan, fentanyl test strips, and the Never Use Alone number. She consistently reminds people that their lives matter and that safety is a cornerstone of recovery.

Kristina steps in whenever there is a need, brings laughter wherever she goes, and always finds the bright side, no matter the challenge. She embodies the heart and values of VRA every single day.

Ready to grow your facilitation skills? Volusia Recovery Alliance is hosting WRAP Seminar II, a five-day advanced training for those who have completed WRAP Seminar I. This training will teach participants how to facilitate WRAP groups and trainings, deepening their understanding of the WRAP process and principles.

Since September, the .us DrugTrac system has shown the highest volumes of Carfentanil contamination in lab tests in the Orlando area so far in 2025. Due to Carfentanil’s very high potency- roughly 100 times stronger than Fentanyl- it is advised that anyone using substances practices extreme caution. You can do this by using the buddy system & never using alone, starting slow & taking a small amount before a full dose, testing your substances with Fentanyl test strips (every time!), & always carrying Naloxone.
You can get free Naloxone, the opioid overdose reversal medication, delivered anywhere in the state of FL by visiting our website at www.flhrc.org. Even if you don’t use substances, anyone can witness an overdose, & you have the power to save a life!

We’re looking for those who could use a little extra support this season—whether it’s a tough year financially, a family facing hardship, or a child who deserves a reminder that their community cares.

Nominations close November 26th, so make sure you stop by the Edgewater Police Department in time!

• Nominations must be done IN PERSON at the Edgewater Police Department — Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM
• Nominators must have the child’s name, address, age, clothing/shoe sizes, and wish list items
• Child/Children MUST reside within Edgewater
