Self-love is our theme this month (of course, itâs V-dayyyyy month).
Not in a clichĂŠ way, but a real-life, everyday way.
Yes, it can look like a bath.â¨Or tea.â¨Or a slow morning.
But it can also look like hard, quiet things.
Listening to your body.
â¨Setting boundaries.
â¨Resting when youâre tired.
â¨Telling the truth.
â¨Saying no.
â¨Not abandoning yourself.
Iâve been reading about the heart center from a few different systems lately, and something that lands in everything Iâve read:
We canât truly connect with others if weâre disconnected from ourselves.
Self-love is intimacy with your own inner world ââ¨knowing your needs, your limits, your fears, your responsibilities, your hopes.
And hereâs what surprised me most:
Love isnât actually a feeling.
â¨Itâs an action.
Itâs built through values and other feelings.
There seems to be differing opinions on what makes up love, but, for me, the values of acceptance, safety, and trust mixed with feelings of warmth and tenderness (firm or soft tenderness) make up âloveâ.
Itâs how we treat ourselves day after day.
Sometimes thatâs a bath.â¨Sometimes itâs a boundary.â¨Sometimes itâs simply sitting still long enough to hear yourself.
This month at UNIFY, weâre practicing all of it â
coming home to ourselves in small, doable ways. Cultivating that love within ourselves, so we can let it ripple out into the world around us.
Take what fits.â¨Leave what doesnât.â¨Learn yourself along the way đ¤
