Re: White Flag Warming Shelter

The National Weather Service Paducah is predicting temperatures at or below 32 degrees Fahrenheit for Sunday, November 9th, and Monday, November 10th, 2025. Therefore, the White Flag Warming Shelter will open to provide warmth for displaced citizens.

A White Flag event signals the opening of an overnight emergency shelter that is open to all men, women, and children.

DATES: Sunday, November 9, 2025
Monday, November 10, 2025


LOCATION: Daniel Pitino Shelter
501 Walnut Street
Owensboro, KY 42301

HOURS: 6:00 PM – 7:00 AM


TRANSPORTATION: Monday-Friday: Owensboro Transit System will provide free bus transportation to the Daniel Pitino Shelter between the hours of 4 PM-6 PM
**Please inform the driver you are going to the White Flag Shelter**

Saturday-Sunday: For weekend transportation, please call the Daniel Pitino Shelter 270-688-9000

**Meals provided at the Daniel Pitino Shelter during regularly scheduled meal hours

White Flag is coordinated by Daviess County Emergency Management and the Homeless Coalition of Ohio Valley, with the support of Daviess County Fiscal Court, the City of Owensboro, and participating shelters within Daviess County

The Veterans Day Parade will take place Saturday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m. in downtown Owensboro!

To make way for the parade, the following streets will be closed from 12:00-3:30 p.m.:
• 2nd Street (Clay Street to Daviess Street)
• Veterans Boulevard (Daviess Street to Frederica Street)
• Daviess Street (2nd Street to Veterans Boulevard)

We’re looking forward to celebrating and honoring our veterans together!
