Hepatitis C is transmitted by blood, which means that infection doesn’t happen from just one thing. It also doesn’t always have symptoms until liver damage has already set in.

You can know for sure by getting tested for free at Communicare. If you have it, no worries! It’s highly curable, and we’ll treat it for free, too! We’re celebrating Jennifer Thompson as our February Employee Spotlight! As a Peer Bridger for Communicare, she typically spends her days meeting our clients while they are navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives. This was especially true during Winter Storm Fern when Jennifer Thompson went above and beyond to make sure our communities had the resources they need.

She is motivated every day by having the opportunity to help others who may not know how or have the resources to help themselves. She also hopes more people understand how powerful peer connections can be. Building trust with clients while they’re receiving treatment helps strengthen that connection to care and encourages them to continue with outpatient services once they return to the community.

You may not know this about Jennifer, but she spends a lot of her free time working on ideas for catering children’s birthdays, and she loves to grow her own vegetables to can and freeze during winter months.

Thank you, Jennifer, for the compassion, dedication, and encouragement you bring to the people we serve every day.

Sometimes when you’re in the middle of it, everything can feel like a spiral. With a small shift in perspective, that spiral can look a bit different.

Not an endless loop, but steady progress upwards.

If you’re feeling stuck in the spiral of addiction, anxiety, or depression and are struggling to find a new perspective on your own, we can help.

Black Balloon Day honors the lives lost to overdose.

It also reminds us that prevention works.
Narcan saves lives. Treatment saves lives. People save lives.

And every life saved is one less balloon.

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness month, and we're here with a few reminders:

Love is not control.
Jealousy isn't proof of love.
Pressure isn't romance.
Control isn't care.

If this sounds too familiar, let this be the sign you need to reach out for help.

Dr. Arkeshia Ware recently earned her doctorate in forensic psychology, and we couldn’t be more proud!

As one of our court liaisons, she works closely with our mobile crisis response teams, chancery courts, law enforcement, and community partners to connect individuals to treatment and reduce unnecessary incarcerations and involuntary commitments. Her work helps ensure that people facing mental health challenges are met with care, coordination, and real pathways to support.

This achievement reflects not only her dedication to her profession, but her commitment to our communities.

Join us in congratulating Dr. Ware on this incredible milestone!
