A Touchy Subject (with a gift at the end)
With so much fear and anxiety incited through news of this coronavirus pandemic, people are creating barriers to touch.
While common sense measures such as washing hands and sneezing into your elbow are needed now more than ever, it is concerning that people will now be distancing themselves from each other.
Let me be clear: I am all for sensible precautions. However, coronavirus is NOT the only virus, germ, or contagion amongst us.
Like our world economies, social wealth is built on trust and confidence. One way that people feel this with each other is through healthy, appropriate, consensual touch.
I’m not talking about greetings here. Those methods of communication are as varied as the many cultures there are in the world that create and use them.
What I’m talking about is touch among those just starting out in life (children/keiki), those in their last season of life (elderly/kupuna), and all of those in between who may be struggling.
In families—whether of origin or by choice—I am hoping that this loving touch continues.
Yes, there may be special situations that require extra diligence, such as preexisting medical conditions that require a deeper level of precaution.
However, in most cases, healthy touch is a basic human need. And for some, it is vital to their existence.
Please consider your actions—and inactions—during this time that may be especially scary and stressful to some.
And also consider the timing of this pandemic in the scope of other shifts happening in the world.
This is the rising era of personal empowerment and of CONSENT.
Of “no” meaning “no” and of all of us hearing that with respect and compassion.
If someone declines touch, remember the Four Agreements and do not take it personal.
Hug with your smile. Touch the hearts of others with your warmth.
This is a time of empowering our feminine—no matter what gender you identify with.
Caring. Nurturing. Considering. 💞
Our people. Our creatures. Our planet.
We are human beings on the same Mother Earthship. 🌍
We have the same basic needs for survival and for thrival.
This is a time for us to learn how to express our love in kind, considerate, creative ways to those that we cannot touch as we may be separated through distance or circumstance.
This is also a time for us to CONTINUE TO RISE UP (IMUA) together and to collectively shine our lights brighter than ever before. 🌟
Let’s do that through consideration, respect, kindness, cooperation, and compassion.
We are commUNITY. 👨🏾🤝👨🏽👩🏻🤝👩🏼👩🏽🤝👨🏿
We are LOVE. 💖

And a little bonus for you:
A recipe for homemade hand sanitizer:
Ingredients
1 TBSP rubbing alcohol
1/2 tsp vegetable glycerin (optional)
1/4 cup aloe vera gel
20 drops Germ Destroyer oil
distilled water (colloidal silver/ionic silver adds antibacterial power if available)
other essential oils (just for scent)
Instructions
To make, mix aloe vera gel, optional glycerin, and rubbing alcohol in a small bowl.
Add cinnamon essential oil and tea tree oil along with a drop or two of any other oils you want to add for scent. Lemongrass, orange, lavender, and peppermint are good choices.
Mix well and add distilled water (or colloidal/ionic silver) to thin to desired consistency.
Use a small funnel or medicine dropper to transfer hand sanitizer into spray or pump type bottles. This can also be stored in small silicone tubes for use on the go.
Use as you would any other type of hand sanitizer.
