Maui Youth & Family Services just hosted Youth Mental Health First Aid training in Lahaina. Equipping community heroes to spot, support, and guide our keiki through mental health challenges post-fires and beyond!

With over half of Maui kids screening positive for depression, these skills are game-changers for early help and hope.

From our hands to their hearts! 🎁

At the Maui Behavioral Health Resources All Staff Event, we enjoyed a team building exercise creating stuffed animals while being blindfolded with one person guiding instructions. Each one was crafted with laughter, smiles, and most importantly, love! Once our fluffy friends were complete, we had the joy of delivering them to the Children’s OR Department at Maui Memorial Medical Center.

Congratulations to Chelene Arnold for being honored as one of the Women of Excellence 2025 by Maui County!

Chelene has been a dedicated leader with Maui Youth and Family Services since 2023, where she currently serves as Program Director. In this role, she oversees a Transitional Aged Youth Shelter for women and parenting women ages 18-26, as well as the Safe House for girls ages 10–17 who are in crisis. She also leads Project Venture, an afterschool prevention program for middle school youth.

Chelene is instrumental in the development of Maui County’s first co-ed shelter for children in mental health crisis.

Those who work with Chelene describe her as a strong leader with a gentle heart. Through her work, Chelene has shown that leadership is not just about managing programs, it’s about nurturing people.
