ANOTHER DELRAY MILESTONE! Delray Medical Center has successfully launched its transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement (TTVR) program using the EVOQUE Tricuspid Valve Replacement System, offering a transformative treatment option for patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation.

Tricuspid regurgitation, a historically underdiagnosed and undertreated condition, can lead to significant symptoms including fatigue, swelling, and heart failure. Many patients are not candidates for open-heart surgery, creating a critical need for less invasive treatment options.

The EVOQUE system is a minimally invasive, transfemoral therapy designed to replace the native tricuspid valve and restore forward blood flow, improving symptoms and quality of life.

Patients being considered for this therapy undergo a comprehensive evaluation by a multidisciplinary heart team, including interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, imaging specialists, and heart failure experts, ensuring a personalized and evidence-based treatment approach.

The launch of the EVOQUE program represents a significant expansion of Delray Medical Center’s Structural Heart Program and further strengthens its role as a regional leader in advanced cardiovascular therapies.

Another Delray Milestone! Another Delray FIRST! 🎉🎉👏

Delray Medical Center is the first hospital in Palm Beach County, and only facility between Ft. Lauderdale and Jacksonville, to complete a procedure using the new Abbott’s Volt Pulsed Field Ablation System (PFA) to treat AFib. Electrophysiologist Dr. Yoel Vivas performed the milestone procedure.

Approximately 12 million people in the United States over the age of 65 have AFib, a number expected to double over the next 20 years. People living with AFib face a fivefold increased risk of stroke, and AFib has been the primary or a contributing cause of death for more than two decades in the United States ii. When medication and other treatment options fail to work, many patients rely on cardiac ablation – a minimally invasive procedure to stop an irregular heart rhythm – to effectively treat the condition.

Globally, physicians are increasingly turning to pulsed field ablation technology to improve the physician experience and, importantly, improve the lives of patients. Pulsed field ablation is different from thermal ablation — which has stood as the standard ablation method for AFib for decades — in that it safely disables the cardiac tissue causing a patient's AFib using high energy electrical pulses rather than extreme temperatures. The technology allows ablation procedures to be performed with a lower risk of damage to surrounding tissues than thermal ablation.

It's another FIRST FOR DELRAY! 🎉👏

Delray Medical Center is the first hospital in Florida, and among the first in the United States, to implement the GE Vivid Pioneer Ultrasound System integrated with the NuVISION Ultrasound Catheter (J&J MedTech), marking a major advancement in real-time imaging for structural heart procedures.

This next-generation platform enables high-resolution 4D intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) from within the heart, providing physicians with detailed, multi-planar visualization during complex interventions such as left atrial appendage closure, transcatheter valve repair, and valve replacement.

Unlike traditional transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), this technology allows for imaging without the routine need for general anesthesia in select patients, improving procedural efficiency while enhancing patient safety and comfort.

The system features advanced imaging capabilities including wide-angle volumetric visualization, deep tissue pe*******on, and a maneuverable catheter design that allows for dynamic, real-time assessment of cardiac structures.

The adoption of this platform reinforces Delray Medical Center’s commitment to leading-edge cardiovascular care and positions its Structural Heart Program at the forefront of minimally invasive innovation in Florida.

What an amazing event! Delray Medical Center and the Palm Beach Health Network proudly sponsored the 2026 Go Red For Women Luncheon this past week. Heather Havericak, our CEO, was the Chairperson for this year's event. Congratulations to our very own Dr. Jacqueline Tutiven, who was named Woman of Impact for 2026!

Leadership Teams from across the Palm Beach Health Network were in attendance to support this very important initiative.

The Palm Beach Health Network's exhibit "Letters to New Moms" encouraged participants to write a special note of encouragement to new moms in Palm Beach County.

“This technology fundamentally changes how we visualize structural heart interventions,” said Dr. Tilak Pasala, Medical Director of Structural Heart at Delray Medical Center. “By bringing high-quality 4D imaging inside the heart, we can improve precision, reduce invasiveness, and expand the types of procedures we can perform safely.”
