We had to change rooms upon arrival. Their idea of a handicap room was one with grab bars. Bathroom was not ADA. They moved us DOWN a level but with no refund to a smaller room that had an ADA restroom. The Breakers http://www.thebreakers.com/ has not wheelchair beach access, even though we asked and were told yes, they do not. To get into one of the restaurants you had to take what I call the "Cattle Elevator" It is not an enclosed elevator and everyone in the restaurant turns and stares as you noisily come up. I did love the beauty but it was difficult to get around. A BIG PLUS they had working pool lift and spa lift which I used and loved!

We stayed http://www.halekoa.com/. I contacted guest services 90 days in advance. The rooms were perfect. The bathroom was wonderfully accessible and we were right on the Waikiki Beach walk that we did not even have to get off into the sand to get to the water. There was a path. Wonderful staff and very helpful. Would recomment.

Send your travel information and let me know if you use a cane, walker, manual wheelchair, power chair or scooter. We want to hear if you visited a place that was wonderfully accessible or if you had problems. Also, if you are traveling, where you are traveling we will help you with contact information for disability services to make sure you get the right "type" of hotel room or if you are visiting popular sites such as Disney or Universal Studios. We have some great contact information and things you may not have known. Six Flags has specials for people in wheelchairs as well as many other attractions.
