Building healthy soil one crop at a time!
At the Standard Process Certified Organic Farm, we follow a minimum 5-year crop rotation. This means no vegetable family is planted on the same acre for at least five years. This natural, sustainable approach helps minimize disease and insect pressure, keeps our soil balanced, and supports long-term farm health.
Though we don’t use it in our supplements, field corn plays a key role in this rotation. Not only does it give us a break from our vegetable crops, but it’s also an incredible way to build carbon and organic matter in the soil. While our cover crops and leftover vegetable residue supply sugars and nitrogen, adding corn helps create a balanced carbon/nitrogen ratio and supports healthy fungal pathways underground.
The result? Healthy, vibrant soil that helps our crops reach their full nutrient potential. 🌿
