History
Blossom Birth Services was founded in 1999 by Anna Hurty and began in what used to be a dentist's office. As the need for what we provide expanded, so did our need for a new space. Blossom has now had six homes in the last twenty years and landed at a marquee location at the Corner of California Ave and in Birch in Palo Alto. In addition to the original offerings we are beginning to expand Blossom’s reach beyond the confines or our community space. In 2019 we helped launch the Doula Volunteer Program at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. This hospital serves Santa Clara County has more than 3K births per year. In 2020 we launched online classes and groups. Community still remains a very important aspect to our staff, instructors and board, but with the increasing difficulty of getting around in the Bay Area, we have to meet parents where they are and provide this additional avenue to connect with Blossom and new parents like them. Blossom has seen many changes over the years and is supported by a wise Board of Directors, hard working Executive Directors, dedicated staff, donors and volunteers. Past ED's include: Anna Hurty, Elizabeth Green, Devi Borton, Dorothy Goor, Neri Life-Choma, Hillary Stamper, Pam Fox-Rollin, Shantell Herdon, Mora Oommen, and Dominique Vincent.

Pelvic Floor Class: Strengthen from the Inside Out 💪
Wednesday, November 12 | 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM with

Pelvic floor exercises are essential for women at all stages of life — especially during pregnancy, after birth, or even years into motherhood. Whether you're pregnant, newly postpartum, thinking about having a baby, or a not-so-new mama, now is the perfect time to give some love and attention to those often-overlooked muscles down there.

Pregnancy and birth (both vaginal and cesarean) place extra stress on the pelvic floor — but with the right tools and guidance, you can support healing, strength, and lifelong function.

✨ In this class, we’ll cover:

* What the pelvic floor and core muscles actually are
* How to safely strengthen them during pregnancy
* Ways to prepare for birth or recover afterward
* How to reconnect with your core in the postpartum period
* What diastasis recti (abdominal separation) is — and how to avoid or heal it

This is more than just Kegels! Learn how to move, breathe, and support your body with intention — no matter where you are in your motherhood journey.

Your pelvic floor is with you for life — it’s never too early (or too late) to start caring for it.

Join us and take the first step toward core confidence and pelvic health!

About Us - 20+ Years

Blossom is a non-profit community-based organization providing resources and support for a healthy, informed and confident pregnancy and parenting journey. Since 1999, Bay Area families have chosen Blossom as their trusted resource as they navigate the new world of pregnancy, birth and early parenting.

From the moment women find out they are pregnant to learning about their choices for childbirth and how to care for a newborn...in the quiet space of our yoga studio, to the boisterous fun of our fairs, Blossom is with women and their families, every step of the way.

If you are considering or have begun your pregnancy and parenting journey, we invite you to explore our offerings. Our team of knowledgeable and friendly staff, instructors and volunteers will be happy to answer questions, provide access to resources, and, when needed, a comfortable couch on which to rest.
