Gathering together with the San Gabriel Valley Psychological Association community is meaningful and rich. Saturday night was the annual January Jubilee festivities, preceded by a retreat for mental health professionals who lost homes or were displaced a year ago in the Eaton Fire. I was privileged to be one of the retreat facilitators, alongside my colleague Amy Guthrie from Trilogy Healing Arts. Gathering to connect, be mindful, regulate our nervous systems, and engage in expressive arts – all in service of community and growth… so important in these times! Thank you to Dr. Shannon Thomas, Dr. Elisa Hernandez and your teams for all the beautiful work you invested to make all this happen! Let’s keep growing and creating!

low skill, high sensitivity way to express our
internal experience. The emphasis is on
presence and curiosity, rather than technique
or perfection.

In our new group, Dr. Savanah Sweet facilitates an engaging group session with children while Dr. Ashlee Reid provides a separate support group for parents at the same time.

Parent Sessions:
- Learn Floortime-based strategies to support your childs strengths and needs
- Gain tools to support your childs emotion regulation
- Build confidence in responding to your childs cues and emotions
- Connect with other parents for support and shared learning

Child Sessions:
- Strengthen emotional regulation and social connections
- Support communication, flexibility, and problem-solving skills

Today we are sharing three expressive arts journals created by Alisha Kalisher, expressive arts practitioner here at the Institute. 💛

Alisha and her family lost their home in the Eaton Fire. She has used creativity and expressive arts on her journey this year, and she has developed three beautiful journals to share with kids, teens and adults to support resilience, creative healing, and community.

As a gift to our community, she is offering these beautiful journals at no cost.
