This week, we’re celebrating the compassionate Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) who provide hands-on care and heartfelt support to our patients — whether in Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living communities, Memory Care settings, or through our home care partners.

Their presence brings comfort, dignity, and peace to those they serve. With their help, patients and caregivers can have more good days — days filled with comfort, connection, and care that honors each person’s dignity.

During National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, it feels especially meaningful to recognize those whose daily work embodies the very heart of hospice: compassionate care, wherever a patient calls home.

💜 To all our CNAs — thank you for the gentleness, patience, and dedication you show every day.

What a privilege it was to celebrate Veterans Day with the heroes living at Spring Arbor of Severna Park.

Active duty service members from Fort George G. Meade joined us to honor each veteran with a certificate of appreciation, an American flag pin, a note of thanks from local schoolchildren, a handmade flower arrangement from the Crofton Village Garden Club—and, most importantly, a grateful salute.

We are forever thankful for their service and sacrifice. 💙❤️

Nov. 9 to 15 is National Nurse Practitioner Week!

We’re celebrating the compassionate professionals who are at the heart of patient-centered care — our nurse practitioners.

One of the most meaningful roles they play is guiding patients and families through understanding their prognosis. They want to ensure that every decision a patient makes is informed and truly the patient’s own. With empathy and clarity, they help create well-documented care plans and advance directives that honor each person’s values, wishes, and rights.

With their help, patients and their caregivers can have more good days — days filled with comfort, confidence, and peace of mind.

💜 To our nurse practitioners — thank you for the care, the calm, and the courage you bring to every conversation.

It was a heartfelt honor for our veteran volunteers and active-duty service members from Fort George G. Meade to come together in gratitude and respect as they recognized the veteran residents at Complete Care at Hyattsville.

We are grateful to our partners at Complete Care for helping us deliver both a group honor salute and several personal salutes — honoring the courage and sacrifice of those who served our country.

Yesterday was a beautiful day for a group of Hospice of the Chesapeake volunteers to share their community spirit by raking leaves and cleaning up gardens at the home of Bill and Joyce Conlon. Bill is an Army veteran who served during the Cold War era. It was an honor for us to serve this veteran patient and his wife. We got to thank him for his service with our hearts and our hands.

We are so grateful for the many supporters in our community who understand how essential hospice care is — care that helps patients and families have more good days, filled with comfort, connection, and peace.

At our fall open house in Pasadena, we asked guests, including Maryland Del. Stuart Schmidt Jr., one simple but powerful question: “Why hospice?”

Their answers remind us that hospice isn’t about giving up — it’s about embracing every moment that matters.

🌿 Everything about our Center for Hope and Healing on the John & Cathy Belcher Campus is intentional — right down to the roots!

Here, COO Brian Berger and Foundation Executive Director Chris Wilson hold signs that will soon be placed in the center’s new garden — a peaceful retreat for patients, families, and team members to reflect and have more good days. 💜

The garden is filled with native Maryland plants, many made possible through a grant from our community partner Unity Gardens. With their support, this special space will help promote cleaner water and air, reduce runoff, and bring natural beauty to all who visit. 🌸

During this season of reflection and gratitude, as we honor the brave individuals who have served our country, our team members and veteran volunteers will be offering heartfelt honor salutes at assisted living centers across the four counties we serve.

While these ceremonies are part of our Veterans Day observance, they also reflect a deeper truth: honoring veterans is not just something we do once a year—it’s woven into the care we provide every single day. One in four of our patients is a military veteran, and understanding their unique experiences is central to how we support them and their families.

By recognizing their service, we help create space for healing, dignity, and more good days.

This National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, we invite you to learn more about how we care for veterans and why it matters so deeply:
