Depression is REAL!
I'm thinking of all those thoughts in her mind.
Thoughts so intense, they successfully suffocated the life out of her. This is what depression looks and feels like. Chosing to park your car on the bridge, jump off and leave your beloved children behind you.
Suffocation of thoughts over powering your ability to SPEAK let alone SHARE. ASK FOR HELP. CONFESS. SEEK ASSISTANCE AND MEDICAL ATTENTION. NO. This is all rational thinking.
When you are depressed its like trying to drive home in black clouds covering your windshield. Yes you know how to get home. But your vision is so limited there is no way to get home without possibly hurting or killing yourself or someone else in the meantime.
Mental illness is this story and many others. Our depressed mind tells us that it is better to take the risk of going home inspite of the consequences. Instead of simply pulling over until after the storm has passed away or calling for road side assistance, we often chose possible death. Some of us are walking dead as a result of insufficient healthcare and addictions that come in various forms.
Mental Illness is many things. For me, it is what I call the invisible disability. Most who suffer never get diagnosed let alone treatment. The ones who do, live in a world where they are Unseen. Unvalued. Unheard. Unsupported. Unloved. Unrespected. UN....A MILLIONS TIMES OVER.
The pain, both physically and mentally over takes any positive or rational thinking, emotion or behavior. The soul is lost. The spirit is broken. The heart is hurting.
It's a reminder to me of a time in my life where I had a million voices spinning around in my head. The voices, advise, opinions of other to include friends, family, coworkers, the church, men, women, God and the devil. It all became too confusing and the fear silenced my own thoughts. Substances and addiction combined with divorce, assult, abuse, unemployment, hospitalization and homelessness created a beautiful canvas for the devils artwork of destruction in my life.
May God bless her children. May we continue to keep talking and sharing the reality of depression. Anyone reading this who needs help or is confused or afraid, please reach out to myself at www.abovealllifecoaching.org. Or you may inbox me.
